You do run that same risk, but I think it's better to have seen it and miss it than never have seen it at all. I think it could have been Joss' best work ever if it had been given more time to develop.

I did it. I bought Firefly 'cause it was on sale and it hadn't reached UK TV yet, and everyone here was telling me how awesome it was. So I bought it and devoured the whole series in about three days.
And then I got upset about it being cancelled, but it doesn't end on some huge cliff hanger, it's actually got a pretty okay ending.
And then you move onto Serenity and everything is more or less explained and it's all just awesome.

There are places where you can rent the discs, so you could try that before you go out and buy the entire set. I think that Amazon.Com lists both "Firefly" and "Serenity," so you could spend a dollar or two and get a sample, just in case the show doesn't appeal to you.

The correct answer is...OF COURSE.
My wife, who doesn't like Buffy, likes Firefly and Serenity. It's a kind of space western set in a galaxy post-"Civil War" with realistic future tech, no silly aliens, a great ensemble cast including people who lost the Civil War, and a whole lot of awesome. I would recommend it to anyone who is alive and has the capacity to watch television.

Yes doesn't even begin to cover it! Lol I didn't want to watch it because I hate Sci-Fi space stuff... but man, this show is freaking awesome! The movie is good too, so yes it is 100% worth every single penny!!

Firefly was a great series, I've watched all the material twice. The characters were thoroughly lifelike and lovable, at least as good as the Buffy characters.
That being said, it isn't as thought-provoking as Buffy, and doesn't reach the same emotional level. If the show had lasted, it probably would've gotten even better, but I still doubt it ever would've reached the Buffy level.

I think it's definitely worth the money to buy Serenity and Firefly. I don't think you can compare Dollhouse's cancellation to Firefly's.

I always watch a series before I buy it; just to be on the safe side. That said, I did enjoy Firefly enough to buy it 🙂

Seriously, YES, it's worth it. I waited til last winter to finally watch "Firefly" and I was soooo sad it took me so long. It's such a GREAT cast, and the show is really good.
