As many know, Matt Le Blanc of Friends is having a spin-off of the show called Joey. To real in the same crowd that Friends had, they are putting it in the ol' Thursday night, 8 o'clock timeslot. Although, I don't think Joey will do as well as Friends it can still do very well (although I don't think I could watch a friends spin-off w/o Chandler!! He's hilarious!!), which causes a problem with Tru Calling. Would this affect greatly? I think yes! Does anyone know if FOX is looking to put TC in one of its new time slot openings, or any other news on this subject?

"Joey" might not be the breakout hit NBC is hoping for. I mean, look at "M*A*S*H." After reeling in the most viewers ever for a sieries finale, three of the characters moved to the spin-off "AfterM*A*S*H", which bombed terribly. On the other hand, "Frasier," a "Cheers" spin-off, did incredibly well. It will all depend on the writing. Even the best character and premise cannot survive bad or clichéd writing.

Well I'm gonna be watching "Joey" when it is aired but because im also a Tru Calling fan I will record one of them. Would both shows still get the ratings?

The bigger question is what ABC and WB put on. You know Joey will do okay, especially during sweeps, when they'll bring in the big guest stars, probably returning Friends cast members, and it will have huge ratings.
You never know what Fox's schedule will be, so TC could move to another time or night.
TC's ratings went up when ABC canceled Threat Matrix and replaced it with reruns of Extreme Makeover. The WB was running African American comedies against Tru.
There's been a lot of speculation that the WB will put on a teen drama on Thursday and ABC might have a female target drama on against Joey. So these types of shows have the head start since Fox can't premiere their fall lineup until November because of baseball and would directly take audience away from TC.
Fox has already greenlit two new dramas for fall - House (medical drama) and The Inside (a 21 Jumpstreet type show). Add to that the four shows premiering in June (North Shore, The Jury, Quints and Method & Red). Then there's the OC Spinoff coming next January. There's not a lot of room on Monday-Wednesday, especially when American Idol returns. So TC is fairly limited to Thursday or Friday, especially since it doesn't have the broad appeal something like a medical or legal drama or a teen soap does.

Forget Joey, the competition on Thursday is The Mountain - a new teen drama on the WB at 8pm from the creators of The OC.
The WB is going after Tru's audience. That was the timeslot where Gilmore Girls started out and did fairly well until taking over Buffy's timeslot. Now the WB will have at least 2-3 months to launch The Mountain before TC Season 2 could return after baseball.
If the WB gains steam and UPN's WWE wrestling stays about the same, and TC's ratings don't improve, Fox is looking at ending up in 6th place on Thursdays.

The OC "spinoff" is called Athens. It's about a New England college town with a clash between an lower class new student and the rich kids who attend the collge. It's more of a companion show than a spinoff.
Fox's schedule is so up in the air you never know what will happen. If their new summer shows bomb, who knows what Fox will have on in November.
Point Pleasant (from Marti Noxon and the producers of Tru) didn't get picked up, but if some of Fox's summer shows fail, it still could come on for mid-season. A lot of people wanted to see TC/PP on Thursdays and that could really work.
