Is Roswell any good?

I've watched the first episode and didn't turn it off, which I guess is a good sign, but I am not sure if it's worth watching. I don't think it's bad, but I am afraid it's going to be a bit too shallow for me.
So please tell me if the writing and character development is good (so not like TVD)
 
I watched the first three episodes and they did nothing for me so I stopped. However- I'm not a fan of the main male lead at all, (Jason Behr I think his name is) and I'm not really into the whole 'good/benevolent aliens who look like us and have special powers' trope in general.

If you can get past those things- the acting seemed okay, and I think it got...three seasons? I know it was one of those shows that was rescued from cancellation by the fans, so it must do something to garner such fan loyalty. 🙂
 
I love Roswell (though I can't stand Jason Behr, lol). I mean it's not Buffy writing or depth but it's a really nice little show. It's one of my great comfort watches, that I'll turn to when I'm down for whatever reason, but I suppose that might be because it is a little bit 'shallow' (or at least not that deep). I think that if you watch a few episodes you'll either get that feeling or you won't, where you feel like you want to continue or you don't... I'd recommend giving it a try, if you don't like it then turn to the next thing 🙂
 
I loved Roswell, it's one of those shows that you don't have to be overly invested in to watch. I sort of treated it like I treated Charmed - it's not the greatest, there's not a lot of depth, but it's enjoyable and has some pretty great moments.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the leads - I found Liz and Max to be almost boring. Michael and Maria were always my favorites, they sort of had a Xander and Cordelia vibe, which I enjoyed a lot.

It's not the best written show out there, it got a little weird in the middle and I think it ended at exactly the right time. There's only three seasons, and I would definitely recommend giving it more than one episode before you write it off.

I've always wanted to watch Roswell. Saw a few episodes like 10 years ago on tv but now it's on Netflix. Glad to hear some people like it. I will have to give it a shot then.
 
Embarrassingly, that reminds me that I went to a convention 12 years ago where Shiri Appleby signed the brochure for me and I still don't think I've seen a single episode all the way through! I think it was on at a slightly inconvenient time, while I still only had terrestrial TV, and back when DVDs of a TV series were still something like £80-100 a season.
