Is Spike's Soul Different Than Angel's?

I was doing homework and it kinda hit me..now I remember someone saying on a few other boards..that Spike had went to get his actual soul back..his SOUL..but angel had went back to get a soul? Was it just any soul? Was it his? I know it's silly...but I thought it was interesting.. The only person I had heard refer to it as his "soul" was buffy...well IUNNO. what do you guys think?
 
I think that a soul is special to a person, so Angelus was infused with Liams soul just as Spike was infused with Williams.
Cause lets look at this properly.
Spike is not William, so its not actually 'HIS' soul he is receiving, its the human hosts.....

But no, i don't think they are different in that one is specific and one is random, they belonged to the host body.
 
I agree DDLM, but the thing I always thought strange about Buffy and angel, are souls in the buffyverse unique, in reality i think they are but in Buffy they seem more like an organ or something that can be removed and put back etc
 
I don't really understand the question. Different how?

In "Get it Done" Spike says he got himself A soul. He doesn't describe it as his.

People seem to get hung up over wording.

If it's as simple as taking any old soul, then why don't they do that with Fred?

Angel's soul=Liam's soul.
Spike's soul=William's soul.

Or the old favourite, The Hallmouth. Except that doesnt really apply for once since neither Spike or Angel were near one (Im assuming since only two have been metioned) when they got their souls back.

When a human gets changed from a human to a vampire, a demon essence moves in and essentially pushes the human soul into the ether. Vampires in the Buffyverse are dead human shells with demon spirit as animation.

When one wants to bestow a soul back onto a vampire, they typically use magick as a means to pull the soul from the ether and funnel it back into the human shell. Souls are person-specific, also; meaning that Spike can only have William's soul, and Angel can only have Liam's. Angel can't have William's soul, and vice versa.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I hope that answered at least a couple of your questions.
 
There is no difference between the souls, but there is a difference in the conditions. Spike wont lose his if he gets a happy, and he wont go all crazy evil. Spike soul is worthless...it isn't keeping him humane, he already was. It was just something he needed to make Buffy love him.
 
I gotta disagree with Freakydorky.

Spikes soul is worthless! I think not! Its worth more I think as he earned it. The trials he endured to obtain it make it worth alot more to him, than Angel who had his cursed upon him. Its worth more than Angels in a way as its permanent. like you said he can go all 'happy'. 😛 I think he needs it to keep him humane. remember the attempted rape. He needed a soul to stop being able to do those things.
 
I don't think souls to be earned, that is entirely against the vampire theory of them being above-the-pangs-of-conscience.
