I'm taking Animation 2 as one of my electives this year in college. Only one semester left after this one, thank god. Some of you may remember me starting here when I was a freshman in high school. It's been a journey! Anyway, this is the midterm assignment my group and I created. We were soo excited to show it off and then the teacher just ripped it shreds. He criticized everything, not one compliment. I know I can be stubborn and conceited, but I honestly see nothing wrong with it. Ok, yes I agree the opening credits are too long and the walking sound isn't looped right, but come on! I don't think it's worth a C. What do you guys think?

I second Buffy... I know nothing about animation. But looking at some of the stuff on TV today, I think it just looks like it's got it's own style. I can't say whether or not I would have given it a C, though.

mmm i agree, it's hard to tell. How long have you been doing this sorta thing?
I thought it was good, i know nothing about animation either, i do watch a lot of the L4D animations on youtube though, they are pretty funny. 🙂

Sorry can't help you though, don't know if it deserved a higher grade or what not.
Still keep practising, you'll become even better! 🙂

yeaaa! l4d animations! :D
Yes, I think it was worthy of a C; when you consider the entire clip is only 2 minutes and 16 seconds but the animation doesnt 'begin' until 59 seconds in and the animation ends at 2:10 that means you used that means you used nearly half (1.05 minutes of a 2.16 piece) for credits. From that aspect alone, I would say yes, it is worth a C. The actual animation part was very good (and I had no issue with the dub being off on the walking) I think it was the credits which lowered the overall score.

Right. The teacher brought that up and I understand that. We were never given any direction towards what the teacher wanted. Pretty much all we were told was make an animation between 00:30 and 02:00. Hand in the storyboard, script, log line, and character models. We would have made them MUCH shorter if we knew it would have killed us that much. We thought because of the spinning papers in the beginning was still animation, that we'd be ok. There is also going to be another part added onto it. I'm not going to be a part of it because I'm just washing my hands of the whole thing now and moving on, but when it's finished the guy is going to add on about another 2 minutes. So in the long run the credits won't seem that out of place.

For those who don't have an opinion on the grades worth, what do you think about it in general? Good? Bad?

I hate when teacher's don't tell you what they want or don't want, and then complain. What are we, mind-readers?
I finished my 3 year digital media course on an animation, You've done a lot better than I, Mind you i cheated and went for the atmospheric rather than the movement, This is a little crude but then that's the style, i think it would have been worth more... but then how does this compare to the other projects in the class?

Flash animation?

The worst project i had was a 3 hour animation project, we had to make an animation that would go for a minute in on class (3 hours) started fresh and without a warning lol

yes this was done using flash :)
Firstly, I am not professional in this field. I mainly keep to writing. Books, scripts for film, TV or Music Video's. The norm is for work to be returned as unwanted.
With regard to your work.
Their was no music at the start, but there was at the end. There didn't appear to be a start, and the end was, to be continued.
Also there is another way of looking at this. It depends on how you react to his comments, me, I would want to be better should I get negative feedback.
Had I entered that, and got an A+, I would continue doing that. Had I got a C, I would strive to be better.

thats a good view point, i guess...it's just that this was our only grade so far so inthis case its a lil harsh
One thing is sure: it's better than I could ever do it 😀 But I know nothing about animation, so I can't help you. The only thing I can say is that I think it looks really good.
