Is Angel AtF good? Better than Buffy season 8? It sounds sort of intriguing, but I don't know...Oh, and what comics are canon? 🙂

I enjoyed it. I didn't read anything Aftermath both, but I did enjoy ATF. I'm not huge on the comics, but I didn't have any problem with these. A few things bothered me (but then again, same thing with the show!) but overall, I thought it was a good read 🙂

After the Fall was great. Loved every moment of it. I also read Aftermath...which was, meh. But yea, I'd suggest After the Fall to any Angel fan. Currently passing my copy around to friends.

After the Fall was awesome! I didn't want to read it cause I hated Season 8 but then I was talked into reading it and I really loved it. Aftermath sucks but starting at the Drusilla special and on gets really good again.

I've only read issues 1-17, and I enjoyed them. Spike acts quite OOC in many of the issues, but hey, what can you do, lol.

And yes, almost anything is better than Buffy S8.

1-17 are canon.

lame question...but what does OOC mean?
Opinions are mixed, but I liked it a lot. It's less of a departure from the TV series, since when Joss scripted Season 5, he'd always intended it to build up to "the Fall" (which was planned as the beginning of the 6th Season that never happened).

I've always preferred it to BS8.

I was gonna make a witty post but then I got caught imagining Season 8 if IDW had gotten a chance with it.

I'm a huge fan of the IDW series. After the Fall is fantastic. A couple of arcs in the rest of the questionably-canonical series are rather bad (Kelly Armstrong's Aftermath and the first part of Bill Willingham's Crown Prince Syndrome). But once the editors' and Brian Lynch take back over to close out the series, the books become some of the best of the verse, particularly one scene on an LA-rooftop between Angel and Conner that, if it had aired on television, would have made for the best episodes in all of AtS.

I definitely suggest reading them, particularly After the Fall and the final Angel, Spike, and Illyria arcs (I love the stuff they do with her post Hell-A), but you have to suffer through the middle because it sets stuff up for the end. Also, everything takes place before Season 8 as well.
