Isn't being in love with a vampire a little perverse?

I'd say not. It's only perverse when place labels on it, such as sleeping with a dead person.

For me, it's about the psychology of it. Vampires aren't even dead, they're undead, so ostensibly apart from being a little colder (Rebecca Lowell implies that a vampire doesn't feel that cold) and the game face physically a vampire will look and seem human.

Also the concept of being with someone who looks young but has the wealth of experience of someone much older can also serve as an allure.

The moral implications of being with a soulless vampire (a la Btvs) may be a different matter (Your Mileage May Vary).

It's not that they're not human. A human dating a demon is whatever. It's that they are walking corpses. Yuck! I used to be able to look past that but when you REALLY think about it...like, in detail...it's pretty damn morbid. People here are comparing it to loving a murderer but that is NOT the issue haha it just kind of reminds me of necrophilia. It's different, clearly but still. I forgot who says it, I think it's Faith, when she asks Buffy, "So what was it like? Boning the undead?" Perhaps the word was "boinking." Still. I watched that episode recently and it really hit me.

She boned the undead. Multiple times.
