Issues with The Wish & Doppelgangland

The Wish's concept:
When Cordelia made a wish, she had our world rewritten with Buffy not in Sunnydale (Anya tried to make the wish as bad as possible too), so the only way to reverse the effects, would be to destroy Anya's power source, & return the world to Normal.

Doppelgangland's concept:
When Cordelia made a wish, she created an alternate reality, a reality where Buffy never came to Sunnydale, the problem here is, if this is the case, then nothing happened in the Show's world, & if Giles destroys the power source, it does nothing.

I don't know how I missed this, it crossed my mind when I was going through Season 3 a few hours ago.

Sorry here is where I'm having trouble. Cordy's wish wrote over the normal reality and created a world whereby Buffy never came. The spell in Dopplegangland recreated the moment whereby the amulet was lost. Think of it like somehow temporaly erasing what was last on the tape to too see what you taped over. Somehow one component of that time and place emerges, i.e. vampWillow. Then they cast a spell to place her back in the time and place of the whence she came and the timeline happens, as it happens and the normal history is restored as normal.

The temporal fold is a temporary unfolding of the timeline, establishing the timeline as it was. That's what was shown in the Dopplegangland.

brings it forth from the time and place it was lost.

Seems that even if the world was erased it did happen in the timeline of the universe, even if it did pop Cordelia back to the moment she made the wish

I think the two stories play well together...

Willow has a great line about the temporal fold after she gets a glimpse of the alternate reality:

That, that-that wasn't just some temporal fold, that was some weird Hell place. I-I don't think you're telling me everything.

It does make me wonder, though, if it is JUST a timeline issue, or if they are accessing another dimension that happens to contain an alternate reality. As there are thousands upon thousands of dimensions (some with shrimp and some without according to Tara).... but in the Wish, when Anya grants Cordelia's wish, are they in another dimension?

Maybe not long after VampWillow went back to the Wishverse that whole place ceased to exist since Wishverse Giles smashed the amulet not too long afterwards.

It did seem like we could take it as an alternate reality being created separate from the real one or that Alt World being written over the real one and then being unwritten and things returning to the real world.

What happened in the Wishverse is technically part of the real world now since Anya did grant the wish in order for her to have lost her pendant and no longer be a vengeance demon. Time was reversed to the moment of the wish but she got to keep the memories of what happened.

It makes me wonder about I Will Remember You reversing time and basically having a new day play over the original one.
