I smell slayers...

I've been right on most counts. Through last season I was pretty much dead-on about everything, but I think I may of been wrong about one thing. Buffy IS the slayer.

Think about it. Couldn't those culty guys be seeking power? Power of slayers... Buffy died, and maybe (Even though this is somthing I usto doubt very much), yet another slayer was called..? And then killed, either in Istanbul or elsewhere.

And then another was called, to Frankfurt. I'm betting we'll see another girl (possible slayer), slain next episode.

I could be wrong, but I'm definetly thinking this is slayer-related..

I've been thinking the girls are slayer related, too. But on the other hand, it doesn't make sense that another slayer was called, since Faith is still around. Unless these girls were to be future slayers,or next in line.

Thats an assumption, the same one I made all through last season. Who says its true? We just thought it was logical at the time, because we thought Buffy would drop out of line... but maybe it just doesn't work that way.

Another thing. With Faith coming back.. couldn't she be fleeing the cult? That'd be sensible, since she was the one who turned herself in for redemption, I don't see her breaking out without good reason. Then again, she may just be trying to help fight that big bad.. but I'm really leaning on my slayer theory...

Faith fleeing the cult is a good possibility. But since we already know she will be making some appearances on Angel, how do you think the storyline will lead in that direction? Just curious to what your theory is, since I don't have one myself. 😉 I do think you're onto something. It's just a matter of seeing how the pieces of the puzzle all fit together.

Since these girls haven't really shown alot of slayer like ability to defend themselves I'm going to lean towards these girls are potential slayers. I'm not positive though, I've kind of concluded over the years that Buffy may be more than just the Slayer. The question has been raised a few times, "Why does she still have her slayer power?". That's a answer I'd like to find out.

Interesting point. This would tie in with Buffy's quote in the opener that "it's all about power."

Well, Joss came out and said the line is now through Faith.

I'm thinking the cult guys are getting ready for the big bad to come / Hellmouth to open and they're getting rid of all the slayers in training so when (in their minds) they take out Faith and Buffy that will be the end of the Slayers.

I've heard the slayer-in-training idea.....while it seems plausible, the scenes shown with them look more like a feisty girl struggling rather than a slayer's kick-@ss ways.

The slayers in wating idea does sound plausible. If it is some big power looking to do away with Slayers it is always going to be easy to take out future untranied slayers first. Then if he kills Buffy he will have a long time to do pretty much as he pleases untill the next slayer is choosen trained and unleashed upon him. Plus the killing the Slayers in waiting idea has been used in the Buffyverse before(well in one og the books). Also the Faith tie in maybe she gets killed in Angel and its the shape shiffter in Buffy?
Just an idea so dont shoot me if im wrong.

I was thinking, that they were THE slayers, they had been called. But, I mean the death of the girl in Istanbul, and the death of the girl in Frankfurt was only a week apart, so the girl in Frankfurt wouldn't of had time to train.

"I missed the heart my first time out too." - Buffy

I think its safe to assume that Istanbul wasn't the first time it had happend either... Another theory I have, is that this entity has been sitting under Sunnydale for a while, and has been gathering little pieces of energy of each of the big bads. (The entity, could be the Hellmouth incarnated as a sentient being?)

Looks to be a promising season.

Well, I thought they might be slayers, too, because the girl in Frankfurt defended herself - she did those high kicks and stuff, and that kinda resembled Buffy's and Faith's Technique. Could be just me, though.

How in the blue blazes could they be slayers?

Isn't there ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE ONE?!

And then, if they WERE slayers, wouldn't that throw the whole Buffyverse out the window? Everything we've come to KNOW as truth would be wrong? Everything we've been told would then be a LIE!!!

Come on people, next you'll be trying to tell me there's no such thing as the Easter Bunny, and that Santa Clause is just my parents.

Oh, PLEASE!!! BE SERIOUS!!!

Uhh... You relize, there are two slayers, right at the moment, at least.. three if my theory is correct. Faith, Buffy, and new girls if I'm right....

I believe that they are Slayers. There was no specific time date but I have read some of the episode titles and I think they explain the whole Slayer lineage as well as vampire

i vote for the slayers in training - which would mean they don't have the Slayers powers - but would have been trained in fighting techniques, etc.

if i remember correctly - Buffy was an anomaly - as she had missed years of training because the council didn't find her until she was called.

so that would keep the "there can be only one" (except that there's two) - and would open the door nicely to these guys heading after Faith - and possibly Dawn as well - as she is now being trained by her sister.

and with all the rumors flying around about Sarah leaving after this season - they could easily use this story line to work up a "Buffy-free" next season. not that i'm so sure i would like that myself. ;(

but i am enjoying the current story line.

Well, in the buffy books (especially spike and dru's pretty maid's all in a row, and tales of the slayer) the idea of slayer-in-waiting is explored quite deeply. Basically, Buffy was an unusal slayer, in that she wasn't found until she was called (a lost slayer), in all the canon slayers, there have only been four lost slayers. All the rest have been slayers-in-waiting before being called. (Too much time spent researching series canon for our own site).

Slayers in waiting are identified and trained in case they get the powers of the slayer, so they are ready to deal with it (both Kendra and Faith were slayers in waiting, hence why Kendra was a better fighter technique-wise than buffy).

My guess is that the girls we see are slayers in waiting, especially given the way they move, and the techniques they use. They don't look to have the speed or strength of the slayer, but they show similarities in technique.

But we can just wait and see 🙂

/me loves having broadband cos it means he can watch the eps a few days after they air across the pond.
