It Clicked!!!

This may be so very very obvious to some of you, but it has just clicked to me. I was watching buffy season 1 today and i realized were xanders dislike and distrust of angel comes from. First of all it comes from the resentment of all vampires, due to one of his first vampire experiences was having to dust his good friend Jesse. Next is the fact that buffy chose angel when xander was interested in her. This made xander feel second rate. So this is were his dislike for angel comes from, in my opinion. What do you think? :: dracula
 
I always thought he hated him because he was in love with Buffy. It's very obvious that's one of his problems... that and the killing of people.
 
Ooh! I never thought about the vampire part.
Well, I knew Xander doesnt like vamps, hense why he takes a major disliking to Spike (but that may have something to do with Spike trying to kill Xander, lol) but I never thought about Jesse.

First of all he hated Angel coz he won Buffy's heart,but nevertheless he was still a vamp and Xander hated it too.I'm sure that there were other reasons also involved,but the ones I mentioned were the crucial ones🙂
 
I think he dislikes Angel because... He had a crush on Buffy but Buffy chose Angel who is in his point is so under her (and then I think that the dude needs glasses ::eyes:: ) and then theres that thing with that he's scared of vampires and I think instead of admitting that Angel scares him (because he's a vampire) he goes out as if he hates him. That's my point of view
 
I'm with Lee on this one. I always asumed that Xander's dislike of Angel was because Xander loved Buffy and Buffy loved Angel. I completely over looked the whole having to stake his best friend issue. That's a really good point. For Xander, Angel will be this constant reminder of what he had to do.

yeah i think its def. mostly the love for buffy thing but i think its also the hating him because of angelus, not just because of jessie but also because of all the other ppl angelus killed, specifically Jenny. I mean, Giles wasn't the only one hurt by that, they all were. But Buffy was able to let it go because she loves Angel and Willow is just generally forgiving. This is what all the Xander/Buffy late season 2/ season 3 tension comes from. Xander can't accept that angel and angelus are different people because he's already so mad at him.
 
Well,in my opinion,...Xander hated Angel becuase Buffy was in love with him and because he was a vampire.

Xander was jealous also because Angel was hotter and used to wear cooler outfits than his lol😛
 
Lol, well I'm not saying those reasons aren't valid. I'm just saying that the Jenny thing may have added to it.

Lol..the later part may be true. Xander had some major fashion issues...Angel had much cooler clothes!😀

But I think reason number one is probably more really why...LOL!
 
It's definately because he wanted Buffy. It might be some with the Jenny thing, but I think he just used her as an excuse to hate him more.

For the record, I generally think Xander is a jackass until he starts dating Anya.
 
I think it was cos of Jesse. Think about it, if a vampire killed your best friend and another one started going out with someone you had a crush on, who would you hate more?
 
I think it was manily cause Buffy was in love with Angel, and he only used the vampire thing as an excuse for why she should kill him, not date him etc..Xander was even jealous of Owen in Never Kill A Boy On A First Date just cause he wanted Buffy..
 
I've been thinking alot about this thread (everything Xanderish sticks in my head! lol)...Anyway, in s1, it's clear that his dislike for Angel came from the fact that he was in love with Buffy, cos he disliked Angel before they knew he was a vampire. But I'm not sure if that's the reason later on.
Thinking of all the horrible things Angelus did in s2, it's understanding that he didn't trust him. I think Xander's feelings for buffy were more sister-brother like in s3, and he was worried about her getting hurt.
And Angelus tried to kill Willow, he killed Jenny, breaking Giles heart, and he broke Buffy's heart, and tried to kill her aswell. he hurt all the people Xander loves. And he killed his favourite teacher. I know I would have had problems liking and trusting someone after that, even if they had no soul...Cos he still had the same face!
And the fact that vampires killed his bestfriend, probably didn't help much either!

I totally agree. The things that kept happening added on to Xander not liking Angel.
