Okay if it's about power should Willow be the leader of the Scobby Gang? I mean because yeah Buffy for about 5 seasons of the show was the strongest of the group, but Willow grew to be the strongest at the very end of Season Five and beyond and everybody will admit to that, even Buffy herself. And we've all seen that Willow was a capable leader when she took over after Buffy's death, with even Giles following behind her, because again she had the power so she took the lead. So I mean yeah Buffy is the SLAYER, but that pales in comparison to the UBER WITCH, who can apparently destroy the world if she wanted to. Also I'm still wondering if Willow can officially be killed, because I mean she got an axe to the back and rose like it was nothing so I'm wondering if she had to be all evil for that to happen or could she do it now again, that she has all this extra extra power now.

Willow couldn't have been the leader really. It's not naturally part of her, she can lead yes but it's not like shes a natural leader. Otherwise she would have just taken over the group when Buffy died, but it had to be decided she would be the new leader.

It wasn't Buffy exactly that said that. It was The First who was very evil and deffinately was not on the side of th Scobby gang. Sure Willow was powerful and in a lot of ways good but since Buffy was the most powerful for so long it didn't seem right to bump her out of command. Plus Willow made bad choices in season 6 that nearly pushed her off the edge and she almost destroyed the world. So that whole quote is just a phrase used by The First Evil.

Well no I'm talking about Buffy basically saying that Willow was the strongest one out of all of them. Not about the power thing. I mean yeah she made bad choices, but Angel made bad choices in Season Two and when Wesley messed up he became the leader again, and I mean Willow was the leader when Buffy died and suddenly now that she's back she became the leader again even though she wasn't in the best place, which neither was Willow but still if Season Seven was all about those with the power are the ones in control then Willow has the power so she should be in control, especially considering she could use that power to take away Buffy's power, because what gives Buffy her power is magick, just like Willow was going to use her magick to make Dawn the key again.

The difference between Willow's power and Buffy's power is in terms of control and acceptance. We've also seen the whole 'absolute power corrupts' thing during the Darth Willow stuff. On some level, even after the whole I'm a goddess stage at the end of Season 7, Willow will still have self-imposed limitations and doubts, and is ill suited to make the hard decisions. She'll try to save everyone, and in doing so, lose everyone. She's not going to be a good commander because she has too much empathy.

It's also kinda like the difference between Obiwan and Anakin. Anakin has raw power, Obiwan has balanced enhanced abilities. Anakin was plagued by doubt and fear, Obiwan had the strength of perseverance.

In real life it usually isn't the people who possess the most power physically that take charge; they're the ones who work for the ones that do have control. It depends on a person's ability to lead that determines who is in charge, which Buffy is better at doing than Willow, I believe. (If that made any sense.)

well put
Isn't that power thing something evil characters (and some real evil people, I guess) repeat a lot? It's not like it's an original argument.

Just sayin'...
