Caulfield to Leave 'Buffy'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Emma Caulfield knows she's leaving UPN's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but she's not exactly sure how she's going to go -- and she's afraid its going to be in a pine box.

Caulfield has played vengance demon turned tell-it-like-it-is human Anyanka/Anya since 1997, but recently chose to leave the series in order to pursue other opportunities. The actress tells Zap2it.com she asked show creator Joss Whedon to be kind, but knows that's highly unlikely.

"No one in Sunnydale ever stays happy very long, there's always great pathos and tragedy," Caulfield says. "I've asked Joss not to kill me, but who knows, he may."

Although it is still up in the air as to whether or not there will be an eighth season of "Buffy," Caulfield says, "I'm definitely Audi 5000."

Formerly a cast member on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and the soap "General Hospital," Caulfield can currently be seen in the horror movie "Darkness Falls," as the sister of a boy who is terrorized by a local tooth fairy who takes her victims when they lose their last baby tooth.

Yeah, I really hope they don't kill Anya. That's too many deaths to deal with for the characters and the loyal audience. Anyway, I figure they won't be forced to kill her off it the show ends this Season, which of course, seems most likely to happen. The way I see it, we're lucky to have had Emma on the show as long as we did. She was more than great, and I hope I'm accurate when I say we all loved her for being apart of the experience; I know I did.
 
boo hoo i like anya that will be sad to see her go she made it funny that's for sure and she'll be a hard character to let go of but i hope she does well and that we see her again
 
I didn't know that Anya was going to be leaving Buffy, I sure will miss her, she really knew how to crack me up at times and was a really good character, but i guess it really doesn't make that much of a difference because after S7 there won't be anymore Buffy.

I hope Emma does well though, she's a great actress!

This is pretty much old news, I wonder wether Joss will do as asked? ... but I'm not sure ... it sounds like Emma wants to keep the option of returning open!
 
I'll be sorry to see her leave - she brought alot to the show. It would be great if Joss did leave it open for her to return - why kill off such a great character permanently? Mind you in the Buffyverse being dead doesn't mean you can't come back.😉
 
I really love Anya and i will miss her A LOT, as im sure a lot of other people will. I really hope, that Anya doesnt die, cuz that would be VERY sad.
 
THe only way I can accept anya dying is if all the scoobies die too. that's the way it should be. All or nothing. Like firefighters, if one dies they all die trying to save him. and then faith could be the lone slayer and she could get her own series with andrew as her trusty side-kick... that would be funny!
 
I am going to be so upset when she leaves i will miss her so much!!!!!

Anya was like a breath of fresh air, and seems to get the more funnier lines lately. She is the cynic in a group of people who always hope for the best, she sees things for how they are, not how they appear! I will definitely miss her character, she is great!
