Hey! I'm new to the boards and thought I'd say hello. I'm a longtime Buffy fan and kinda fell back into the obsession during early covid times. Big fan of BTVS, not really a fan of ATS. (Haven't watched all of ATS but I'm fine with spoilers.) While I AM old enough to have watched the show live, I actually watched it with the mailed-Netflix DVDs. My favorite characters are Faith and Buffy, and I'm a big Fuffy fan. I am currently reading Go Ask Malice (no spoilers please) and plan to post (more) on the Book Club threads on it. I'm also a huge Eliza Dushku fan and slowly making my way through everything she has been in.

Thanks for being an active board in 2023 and welcoming fans so many years after the show has ended! Couldn't have done it without ya!

Welcome 😁 great timing to be reading Go Ask Malice. Looking forward to your posts 🙂

Have you seen Dollhouse yet?

Hi 🙂 I hope you love it here. This is a great community filled with great people.

Go Ask Malice is a good read! I hope you like it

Thank you for the welcome! I'm almost done with Go Ask Malice and yeah I've enjoyed it.
Welcome to the forum! I have been on a number of fan forums and this one is the most intelligent and civil of all of them. A lot of people on the forum are fans of Faith and Buffy above any other character, so you are in good company here.

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes I have seen the Dollhouse, multiple times. Overall I'm a fan of it, although some of the consent/assault stuff could be better IMO. (Like post processing for the survivors?) I've also seen Tru Calling and several of Eliza's movies and TV guest spots. I'm guessing you're a fan of Dollhouse with your avatar? I liked Mellie's part in the show for sure, I didn't guess what would happen at all.

Hi 😃 My favourite character is Faith too and my favourite actress is Eliza.

Did you catch all of Faith's Angel episodes?
Hello! Yeah Faith and Eliza fans, RISE UP! haha

Yes I did!! I specifically watched ATS just for Faith's episodes. (Also watched like the first 3, and the Buffy one without Faith, and the one with Puppet Angel. Watched all the ones with Anne and trying to watch all the ones with Gwen currently.) The first two times I watched BTVS I didn't see Faith's ATS eps and it was jarring how Faith was just like back in S7. Her redemption arc definitely needs those ATS eps.

I've also seen Tru Calling and several of Eliza's movies and TV guest spots.
Tru Calling is SO underrated. And it was JUST getting settled into its mythology when they cancelled it. Season 2 was starting off SO STRONG. It still hurts that they cancelled mid-production! But glad we at least got 6 more episodes out of it. I forgot what replaced it… I want to say Marti Noxon’s supernatural drama. Point pleasant? I wonder if I still have those DVDs… *searches house*

Thanks for joining and looking forward to seeing your posts! ❤️

It IS underrated for sure! I bought the DVDs since I couldn't find it streaming anywhere and my library didn't have it. I liked the Luc character (Matt Bomer) more than Jack (Jason Priestley) but yeah they definitely cancelled it too early. I listened to all the DVD commentary and was struck by Jason Priestley not once complimenting Eliza. Like usually on those things people trip all over each other to compliment each other, or joke around. Obviously I'm an Eliza fan but it still seemed objectively strange, like he got to join HER show and he didn't compliment her.

Besides Tru and Luc, I enjoyed the dynamic with her best friend (Lindsay who disappears for S2) and her little brother (Harrison). I felt like Eliza wanted to prove she could have a true brother-sister dynamic (better than Missy and Cliff in Bring It On - that's a little weird to me) and she and the actor that plays Harrison really nailed it.

I especially liked 1x11 The Longest Day when she is stuck in a time loop. Reminds me of Russian Doll (show) and Happy Death Day (movies). Anybody who likes time loops and / or Eliza, definitely check out Tru Calling!

(and thanks for the welcome Cohen!)

I think Faith is at her absolute best from both shows in Angel season 4, because I loved her as Buffy's shadow but in that story Faith is really her own person and it's the only time that we get to see her do her own hero mission, Wesley says "This is Faith, the vampire slayer" to the gang and it's kind of surreal.

So yeah everybody should see those episodes I'm a big fan of them 😄

Yes I heartily agree re watching those episodes!! I think my favorite moment of her in ATS S4 is when she realizes what she needs to do and she tells Wesley "move away from the glass." (or something like that) SO badass.

Yes! I really hated that they moved on without Lindsay in season 2, but AJ Cook landed Criminal Minds around that time, and she is AWESOME in that!!

I need to watch Russian Doll. I tried the first episode and I think I was too tired to get it. But I heard it’s really good and I LOVE Natasha Lyonne! Her new show Poker Face is AMAZING.
(and thanks for the welcome Cohen!)
Of course! I can already tell we’re going to be great virtual friends! ☺️

Yes I haven't seen much Criminal Minds but good for AJ Cook! I assume getting a long running show like that is $$.

If you like time loops / time travel def give Russian Doll another try. I haven't seen Poker Face yet, it's on my list. And haha yes!

Faith in Angel is incredible and heartbreaking. I cry every time in "Five by Five" when she tells Angel 'I'm bad, I'm evil.'

Me too :( it's amazing how those lines seem really on the nose but it just works when you hear Faith say it

Agree! Yes this is a scene that Eliza CRUSHES. I saw a video of her talking about it at a con, and it seemed like she thought it would be challenging, like the lines on their own were just there. But she talked about being proud of how it ended up.

We need more supernatural shows that aren’t Ghost Adventures.

There’s so much out there that you can do something with! Mothman! Owlman! Point Pleasant! The Dover Demon! Urgh!

Welcome. I’m a big fan of BtVS too. It’s my second favourite tv series. Buffy and Faith are two of my fav characters as well.

Though I’ve only seen some of what she’s been in, I’m a huge Eliza fan also and currently rewatching Dollhouse. The show is better than I remembered it and she’s great in it. I understand the characters better now, as I’ve learnt more about people and organisations in the last couple of years. She’s one of my biggest inspirations. Her portrayal of Faith was a source of strength for me during the first lockdown in the summer of 2020. Like Eliza, I got back into education in the last few years.

I remember liking Tru Calling, I got the DVDs but got rid of them as I never re-watched the show. The premise of Tru running around stressed me out.

But I do remember watching it on TV and being SO MAD when season 2 ended abruptly, just as I felt the story was getting good! That's probably why I never re-watched it. I did like Tru and her brother though, they had a good dynamic. Wasn't Zach Galifianakis on it too?

Oh man, Point Pleasant, I watched that too. I think that also got unceremoniously cancelled. Wasn't the best, but not the worst.

Yes Zach G was in it too. It's funny in the DVD commentary they make fun of Tru always having to run around. And yeah I agree, they should have at least let S2 finish before canceling it.

I love AJ! She’s adorable. And she really grows in Criminal Minds!

Oh! Have you seen Final Destination 2? She has BROWN hair in it! Also, she’s the star!

And if you like mysteries, you’ll love Poker Face! The first part always sets up a snippet of a mystery. And then, it goes back and shows how Charli (Natasha Lyonne) fits in the story and then how she ends up solving the mystery! So good!

And so many great guest actors!

I actually just rewatched Final Destination 2 like last week! I couldn't place her with the brown hair until halfway thru the movie. It really threw me off.

Thanks for the description. Poker Face sounds excellent, I will try to check it out soon.

One of the strengths of Dollhouse is how off the charts some of the other actors are. (For me the actors playing Victor and Sierra are top tier.) If I had to pick one episode for Eliza in that I would probably pick 1x04 Gray Hour. (Mild Dollhouse SPOILERS I guess: She's a high-end call girl just having fun! Oh no, she's in danger! Oh haha it was a trick she's actually a top-level heist manager! Oh shit she was wiped she's a doll again. What a ride!)

And 100% agree about Eliza being an inspiration. Both personally and with the various characters she has portrayed. I'd better stop myself before I write a whole book report here, haha.

Thanks for the welcome and Kudos to you for going back to school!
