It's Over: How does this affect finale

There have been many threads about what we would like to see in the finale, but now that we know this season's finale will also be the Series Finale, how do you think the people at Buffy will do it.

Will it be a special two hour episode?

Will people like Seth Green and Amber Benson sneak in for a final goodbye?

If Joss Whedon can't write the final episode who do you think should write it?

We know some of the characters will probably die who do you think they will be? Kennedy's at the top of my wish list. Anya will most likely get snuffed.

Do you think they'll do that thing they usually do with series finale's where the cast all sits down and discusses their years together?

Knowing Buffy they'll most likely do something unique. What do you think that will be?

Will ... Seth Green ... sneak in for a final goodbye?

I wish, but I doubt it.

If Joss Whedon can't write the final episode who do think should write it?

Nice hyptothetical, but completely a moot point. There's no way Joss isn't writing the finale.

Kennedy won't die, I think Joss fears the wrath of the Kittens to kill another lesbian. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I just don't think he'll do it again, for politically correct reasons. 😛 Plus, Willow's girlfriend died last season, so one could legitimately argue that it's already been done.

It would be nice if ALL the old characters came back, sometime during any of the following epsidoes.

I don't know how unique the ending could be, considering that just about every episode is unique, but I'm sure that it'll be great, yet very sad.

All I want is closure... I don't want to have to make my own decisions about what happened.. i hate it when shows end like that. I want to know exactly what happends and Buffy had better not die. Just run away, would be fine wiht me.

I wonder if Willow and Xander will die... if they are not in spin-off moods, what do you thin will happen to them? I think that their deaths will be devastating.

It sure would be perfect, though.

Whenever I think that might happen, I think about how the fans would feel if it did. I mean, I know Joss is cruel and all with the killing, but would he really want to end it for us like that? I guess it really wouldn't matter because we can't get mad at him and say, "I'm going to stop watching the show since so-and-so isn't on it anymore," because there isn't a show to not watch after that.

If there weren't all these rumors about a spin-off and the possibility of Alyson or Nick or James or Michelle, etc., than I'd say their deaths are all a strong possibility.

Front Page

Kind of interesting.... I grabbed today's paper, and the "end of Buffy" was on the front page, so I turned to the story and the guy was saying how after the break there's going to be a five episode arc ending in the finale.

I know the first two are going to be a Drew Goddard double-header, so it's going to be a wild ride.

yep, i can't wait for this 5-part arc. apparently,
faith and angel are both making appearances

this season so far has been wishy-washy.. not enough momentum in the plot since it's like there's this first evil there and... it's..just... there.

but the ending should be spectacular, no doubt.

I wish all of the original characters will come back and help Buffy.

I think Joss Whedon will write the series finale. Come on, Buffy is like his baby.

I do got a funny feeling that Kennedy and Anya are going to died this season.

Has everyone seen this?

In May, the series will wrap its seven-season run (which began in 1997 on the WB) with an hourlong finale episode penned and directed by Whedon titled "Chosen." Emmy-nominated Whedon and exec producer Marti Noxon have just begun hammering out details of the final three scripts.

While he wouldn't discuss specifics of the finale, "We're not going to end it by saying, 'There can be no "Buffy" no more,"' Whedon said. "But it definitely has a message of emotional and thematic closure that's as important as anything we've said."

UPN execs have indicated their interest in a spinoff of "Buffy," and Whedon said he's willing. The timetable is up in the air, however. While UPN would no doubt prefer a new series as early as this fall, "I think ideally the best thing to do would be to wait and not rush anything," Whedon said. "There are paradigms that I've posited that could start next year ... (but) whatever came next, it would have to have at its center an idea as worthy as ('Buffy' and spinoff 'Angel') were. And somebody who's pretty."

From things I've heard, I think she would be a prime candidate to roll over to a spin-off. So I doubt that Kennedy will become a victim this season.

I'm actually longing for this 5 partner because all battles against the big bad have been great, no doubt in that... but season 1, 4 and 5 were only 1 episode (Prophecy Girl, Primeval, The Gift) and seasons 2, 3 and 6 have been 2 (Becoming, Graduation Day, Two To Go/Grave) So this will be simply spectacular...

If there is a Glory, every one of the episodes will have a cliffhanger, hopefully next episode will feature a Faith Cameo in the last second...

I hope there's a spin off, I just love Joss' characters to much... or at least I hope Angel lasts another year... *praying*

AND TO ANSWER THE QUESTION: How does this affect the finale? they'll have the nerve to kill more characters, Anya most likely, maybe (not that i want them to) Andrew, Robin, pretty much every potential slayer, Faith(whether she has a spinoffor not), I've always liked Buffy and Angel for the nerve they've had at killing characters, so i'm thinking in a 5-part finale they may kill several, I hope they killed at least 2 in one ep, that'll be my dream (again, not that i don't like the characters or want them to die, but deaths are always cool)

Anya will most likely get snuffed.

NO NO NO DONT SAY IT, You'll curse her! Take it back!

I really dont like Spike, at all, but i dont even want him to die. I dont want anyone to die, y'know, exept Kennedy and Rona The Mona

I think there is a very good possibility that Buffy will die. Given all we know from the mythos about how the First is only able to do what it's doing because of this problem with the Slayer (probably having to do with the fact that she's alive when she is supposed to be dead), the fact that Slayers aren't supposed to live as long as Buffy has, as well as the fact that SMG is moving on with her career and will likely not be Buffy anymore (though I still think a movie is possible) it makes sense to kill of the Buffy character. Restore order to the Slayer line, free up SMG to move on with her career, and I'm betting destroy the hellmouth or something big like that for closure in the process.

Afterall, they shadow guys did say that Buffy would be the last guardian of the hellmouth. She's taking that as the end of the slayers, but I think it means the end of the hellmouth.

I wreckon Spike and Anya will die. My friend thinks Xander is gonna die, but I dont and we have both bet each other on it! Surely there gonna keep the original scooby gang, Willow, Xander, Giles and maybe Buffy?😕

Not that I WANT this to happen, but I predict that there's a Buffy/Spike love scene... where she tells him that she actually loves him.

I also predict that Spike will die. And he'll die for Buffy. Remember, it "isn't time for Spike yet" according to the First.

It WOULD be cool if, assuming there's a spin-off, Buffy made cameo appearances.

If there is a Spike/Buffy love scene, one of them will probably surely have to die... there are no happy relationships in buffyverse...darn it!!!!

Hopefully, it's time for a change.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that if Buffy doesn't die, Spike will. Actually, you might be able to look at this as a good thing (even though I like Spike) because it's possible that there was some kind of importance for the vampire with a soul thing, so this could mean that Angel's series is doing well enough that they just decided to give Spike a soul so that the Angel series could continue.

I too think that Spike will die, but that in the end, Buffy will give her love to Spike and not to Angel.

The problem with killing off Spike is David Boreanaz might be signed up for the Superman movie series. If this turns out to be true and he dumps Angel, because he can't handle both projects, the people at ME would probably want to keep a souled vampire around in the Buffyverse. That would most likely mean Spike lives.
