It's Over: How does this affect finale

Don't you think it would be a mistake to just swap Spike for Angel? The more I think about it, the more I think the next spinoffs should be new ideas, new focuses. That means not anothe Vampire Slayer show, and not another souled vampire show.

But that's just me...

I agree that it should be a new idea, but I'm just cringing at the Willow Show idea that's being kicked around in another thread. Here's hoping.

And I believe that last script is probably written by now (or at least it's got to be getting there) and since this whole Superman thing was just announced and nothing is even set in stone about how it will effect Angel's show I doubt that it will have any effect on the outcome of Buffy's season finale. If they were planning on having Spike die, I'm betting he's still going to die, no matter what David Boreanaz does.

Let's hope that *if* the story Hello magazine are running about DB taking on the Superman deal are true, that also the fact that he *supposedly* said he would still carry on in Angel is true also. I mean SMG managed to do Scooby-Doo as well as Buffy.

Back on topic, I think that Dawn has potential to be killed off, as really she's kind of superfluous really in my opinion. As is Xander, what does he really do afterall? Although I think he may just get badly injured and come close to death than actually dying.

I definitely do no think that Buffy will die, but that somehow Spike will end up sacrificing himself for her, which is when I reckon Buffy will declare some kind of *love* for Spike.

Someone also mentioned the fact that they wouldn't kill Kennedy off because they already did that with Tara - that's one reason why I think they might just do that, because we wouldn't expect them to do it again, it would come as more of a shock to have it happen twice to Willow.

I really hope that as someone else mentioned in the thread, that they do wrap it all up, as I certainly don't want to have to assume what happens next - I hate it when they do that, I like to have everything clear cut and have a neat ending.

They are going to have to leave some fave scoobies alive though, if they are still going to go ahead with a spin-off of some sort, let's just hope that whoever is left are decent enough characters to be able to hold their own in a spin off, even if they are not the central character.

Please allow me to disagree. I love the character of Dawn. Here's someone who shares that sentiment in an article titled "Dawn Summers: Most Valuable Scooby?"

http://www.the-buzz.com/b_7_16a.htm

As far as Xander goes, didn't Alyson Hannigan do an interview where she was saying how Nicholas Brandon was the one Scooby anxious to stay on. I think she said NB was saying stuff like "I'll do anything. I'll be the janitor"

Surely ME wouldn't reward that kind of loyalty by killing off his character.

PS Damn... I just tried that link and it didn't work for me. If you should want to read the article you can go here

http://slayage.com/

and click on the "Dawn" link there.

I don't know. If it makes sense creatively, they might do it. They've shown they've been willing to kill popular characters (and actors) in the past.

The more I see Dawn this season, the more I would like to see her stay in the Buffy franchise. I have never been a Dawn hater but I'm steadily turning into a Dawn fan.

The links not working for me. 😉

I'll never be convinced about Dawn, shallow I know, but I just don't like her that much and don't really see the point to her. I know there are others that think differently, and I will admit her character has grown, but for me it would take more than she offers at the moment not to kill her off. Maybe if we had another season to watch I would feel somewhat differently. *shrugs*

I actually like Xander , I like his sense of humour, and I'd keep him alive for that alone - plus he is superb at moaning in one breath and being the big brother giving advice in another. If anything he has been the one stable thing through all the seasons, he's never really gone off the rails, as I recall, and stability is always a good thing.

Edit Used the other link, and whilst I agree with some of the points they raised, it still doesn;t make me like her - sorry! 'lol' Told you I was shallow. 😛

I think people are overestimating the amount of death that will happen in the finale, at least to characters I care about. Afterall, they did just fill the house with a whole bunch of perfectly extinguishable characters, the potentials. Buffy said it herself, "Some of them are going to die, and there's nothing I can do about it" and she's right. It's like we're watching a Star Trek show, and twenty guys in red shirts just came onto the scene. It's like a ton of human sheilds for the good characters. Still, I think it's very possible that a couple main characters will die, and I think the Spike is most probably one of them. I actually don't think Dawn is important enough to die. Here's my list of people I think will get killed:

Spike
a metric TON of potential slayers
Buffy (could happen, no matter what people have said)
Anya (possibly)
Andrew (I don't know if his character could move to the spinoff,
so it's death for him)
Principle Wood (could happen, though he'd be cool in the spinoff)
Giles (guy's old, old people die, plus it'd be way emotional)

From what I understand there have been several ideas for a post-Buffy spinoff including shows based on Giles, Willow, and Faith, but none have been finalized. I do believe, however, that the Faith one has been axed, though I'm not 100% sure on that.
