Is anyone else here as moved by the scene with Buffy and Giles in the training room in "The Gift"? I've probably watched it a thousand times. The acting, writing, lighting - everything is perfect. It's my favorite scene in the series.
Anyone else have this reaction to that scene?
Love how it ends too:
B: The spirit guide told me that death was my gift. I guess that means the slayer really is just a killer.
G: I think you're wrong.
B: Doesn't matter. If Dawn dies tonight, I'm done with it. I'm quitting.
 
I think the scene was great, but not my favorite. My favorite was the teaser.
"You're just a girl."
"That's what I keep saying."

But the training room is definately good. I always get a little tear in my eye when Buffy says she wishes Joyce was there. The emotions in her voice really just makes it all sadder.

definitely good scene "that's what I keep saying"...in the Gift Buffy shows what she really is.
Agreed, great line, to me all Buffy Giles scenes that deal with emotion or serious issues are always pretty emotional and strong.
 
I loved that scene. But it also made me kinda sad too. It showed that Buffy was in that state of mind that all slayers get in before they die (Fool for Love), she wanted it. I love the episode though, so great.
 
I liked this scene very much.I also like the fact that she mentions her great sacrifice of Angel in season 2. In fact the whole episode "The Gift" was amazing. Buffy saying "anyone who gets near Dawn dies", the scene where she fights off the vampire and she says that she is just a girl with that melancholic face. The Gift stands for everything Buffy represents in my opinion.

She is a hero and she proves it. She is a fighter and doesn;t give up even if she has to deal with a goddess. The Scoobies are united against a common evil again. Spike trying to save Dawn and failing broke my heart...cause after this it was destined that Buffy or Dawn would have to die;"Summers' blood"...
 
I love this scene. When Buffy says that she'll quit, it feels to me like a call back to Prophecy Girl where she says the same thing. But while then she was afraid to die, now she's anything but - it's continuing to live and fight a neverending struggle while those around her die that she won't accept.
 
One of the most painful episodes in the show. From the begining when that boy says to her that she is just a girl, and she replies that she's saying that too, then the scene with Giles when she said she loved Angel so much and that she wishes her mom is here, to the end, when I see faces of her friends. Probably the saddest episode in the whole show.
 
I definitely do love this scene, but then "The Gift" is one of my very favorite BtVS eps of all, so I love the entire episode. I remember jumping like someone shot me when they were fighting in The Magic Box and Buffy said "We are not talking about this!" and Giles yelled "YES WE BLOODY WELL ARE!" It's the first time I could remember Giles ever snapping at Buffy like that and I was like "Whoa!"

yes that was an interesting Giles moment. Giles was worried. Maybe Dawn was Buffy's sister but the world was in danger because of the Key's blood.
Yep i love her little speech and the music that goes with it. The gift is a great episodee, ive always loved .
 
Ah, The Gift, how I love you so. I think everything in The Gift is touching, and moving in some way, but that scene...I adore it. I tend to watch Buffy whilst I'm on my laptop, thus I'm rarely paying all that much attention these days, but if I'm watching The Gift, when that scene comes on, I always seem to end up glued to the screen, I think it's nice to see a scene between Buffy and Giles; considering it seems to become quite a rare thing after season three (At times, anyway) and just the dialogue in it is...Amazing. Then again, I suppose the whole episode is pretty damn amazing.
