First of all, clever title, throw back to Angel's role in the whole Ehygon problem back in Sunnydale.

But the parents piss me off.

At the end, when kiddo is de-possessed and going all pyro in his little sister's bedroom. He wedges them in their room. Clearly they know something bad is going down, and yet despite that their hallway appears to be carpeted, the wedge places by a seven year old kid (granted, a psychotic kid, but still) keeps them in their room, and they don't bother trying to find another way out? Going out a window, perhaps?

And then when they finally manage to get out, and run over to the daughter's room, they see the fire and what do they do?? They stand there like morons. Do they go to get a fire extinguisher, in an attempt to, y'know, save their daughter's life? Nope. They just stand there. Fire bad, tree pretty. Nothing.

Lame.
 
Ok, firstly, I can't remember wat this Eygon thing is, could you fill me in?

And, I totally agree. I like the epy and all, but that was just ridiculous. Could Mutant Enemy not come up wih anything better to keep the parents in their room?

I actually liked this episode a lot, although one thing that bugs me is what the demon said about the boy in the caves. It puzzled me when he said the boy had no soul or concious, he just had a big black void of evil in him or something along those lines.

Soooo what does that make the boy? Is he some kind of demon or anomilie who was just born a bit wrong? Anyone care to fill me in on this or have I missed something?
 
Well...

The way I look at this depends on how we define the soul. If the soul is a conscience then somehow the boy was born without one (spooky). However if the soul is the very person you are, then I believe the Ethros was exaggerating. The was nothing metaphyisically different about him, he was just, you know, a jerk.
 
Yeah, the parents piss me off too. Personally, I like they phsycotic kid. Mostly so theres a chance that the parents would just DIE. Okay, maybe that's a little cold, but y'know, they REALLY pissed me off, I mean, they didn't think to get their kid therapy? Some parents they are!

The Eygon thing, in S2 of Buffy, the ep The Dark Age. Eygon was the demon that Giles and his friends raised when he was young, and that came back to wreak a little havoc. He possessed a dead or unconscious person until he body it was using gave out, and the only way to get it out of Jenny Calendar was to get it to jump into Angel, where the demon in him duked it out with, and killed, Eygon. Jenny (possessed by Eygon) said the line "I've got you under my skin" when she revealed her possession to Giles.

I explained that really badly, but hopefully you can sift through it!
 
I love this episode... It was the first Angel episode where I said "Whoa, that is really creepy." But the parents piss me off 'cause the Dad is too busy trying to cover everything up and the mom is all Fruit Loops without the Loops. (And I'm sorry, but the woman who plays her is FUG and she can't act.)
I rewatched this ep just today and am still amazed at how creepy that little boy is, and I still ache for Wes when the demon gets in his daddy business. 🙁
 
I love this episode.

I could defend the parents (a door stop just shoved under a bit will be made worse when you try to move the door yada yada; & also the first rule of rescuing people is not to put yourself in danger) but I don't want to because they annoy me.

I do like the way that you're given the impression that the Dad's the bad guy at the beginning. Then that the daemon is the bad guy. Then it's the boy. TWO twists. Wow.
 
I agree... That part where Angel admits to putting the powder in the brownies and the little boy freaks out and she looks at Angel and was like "You poisoned him?! You are NOT an Angel"... She came off as such a mental case.
 
Wouldn't you go a bit mental if a stranger put random shit in the food to give your family and then your son started morphing his face into a weird evil thing?
 
The mother suffered from a common affliction often found in the parents in Sunnydale: repression. Seth and Stephanie could both see that something had been wrong with Ryan for while but Paige didn't want to believe that.

LOL Definitely! But at the same time, he had "always been bad", to quote his sister Stephanie...

I just hate the woman who plays the mom. I thought she was one of the worst actresses (and fugliest, but that's beside the point) to ever be on Buffy or Angel.
 
I really liked this episode, but I think it is definitely the creepiest Angel episode I've seen so far (I'm 2/3 of the way through Season One). The same day I watched that episode (at night, no less), I had been listening to a radio program about real-life exorcisms, so that kind of...shall we say...heightened the effect. 😛
 
The Kid sent a vicious demon running and screaming into the the night...WHOA!

The parents did annoy me a bit, still a good episode though.

A very strange this happened, I actually felt sorry for Wesley.
