Has anyone else noticed that the last two people to die in Buffy died from either natural death (joyce) or well a human death for example bieng shot (Tara). I have just noticed that generally the main characters on Buffy die by natual deaths. hmm... well not al of them.
 
Yep, I think it was done that way to show people that there are other ways of dying apart from being killed by a vamp, burnt etc...
 
Ooo cool (well bot cool that they died cos i liked both of thie characters but it was cool that it was done like that hehe) 🙂
 
Yeah, I don't know how accurate this theory is.

Amanda died fighting Vampires in a hell dimension.

Molly was murdered by a super-powered madman.

Jonathan was sacrificed.

Warren was flayed alive by a witch.

Then there's Buffy. Are you going back as far as The Gift, or would only the being shot to death in Season 6 apply? If the Gift doesn't apply for Buffy, you can't include Joyce in your list of natural deaths.

Off the top of my head the only characters I can think of who died from what you would call natural causes, would be Joyce, possibly Tara (if murder can be called natural), and Cassie Newton.

I'm not even sure Anya would apply, unless being cut in half by an eyeless cultist in a battle to ward off an apocalypse can be considered a natural cause. Hmmm... maybe in the Buffyverse.

maybe it was done that way because they didnt want those characters to come back....well,resurrect

I hadn't thought of that. If you're goin to try to decide what makes a natural, or unnatural death in the Buffyverse, you have to use Buffyverse rules.

By those rules you can be resurrected from a Supernatural death, but not a natural one.

But what exactly are the rules? The closest thing we get to a definition is when Willow summons Osiris to resurrect Tara in Villians:

WILLOW: Hear me! Keeper of darkness!

Suddenly some of the clouds form into a huge face. It speaks in a deep raspy voice. Lightning flashes around it.

DEMON: Witch! How dare you invoke Osiris in this task!
WILLOW: (crying) Please. Please, bring her back.
DEMON: You may not violate the laws of natural passing.
WILLOW: How? How is this natural?
DEMON: It is a human death, by human means.
WILLOW: But I-
DEMON: You raised one killed by mystical forces. This is not the same. She is taken by natural order. It is done.

As I interpret those rules it would go like this.

Natural deaths

Joyce
Tara
Buffy Season 6
Cassie Newton

Supernatural Deaths ( one's' killed by mystical forces)

Buffy: Season 1 and 5
Jessie
Flutie
Snyder
Mayor Wilkins (debateable)
All the vampires
Annabelle
Molly
Chloe
Amanda
Jonathan
Warren

and probably Anya.
