What do you guys think of Jake 2.0 - David Greenwalt's spy-sci-fi show? I know it has been cancelled in the US but I've been enjoying the UK showing. It seems to be a good action-adventurer with enough of a sci-fi twist to keep me watching. Not the best show I've ever seen but definitely above average IMO. I just don't understand why US audiences fail to watch good genre shows...

Shame-facedly I have to admit, I wanted to watch Jake 2.0, but The Simple Life was on the other channel. The Simple Life was this American reality show where Paris Hilton and Nichol Ritchie terrorized an Arkansas farming community.

What can I say? I'm part of the problem. I should have been supporting Greenwalt, but instead I was watching Nichol Ritchie stick her hand up a cow's butt. No excuse, really.

damn... and I used to respect you. 😀

Seriously though, you didn't miss much. It was pretty mediocre. Not bad, not good, just sort of there. An interesting idea, but they didn't really do anything with it. It was a seriously dumbed down spy show, with a sci-fi angle, that was made all bubblegum. It ended up being totally saccharine most of the time. If it had been on the WB it would have fit perfectly between Dawson's Creek and Smallville... which just isn't the flavor you want for a "spy drama".

but really... The Simple Life? ::eyes:: If Numfar were around I'd have him do the dance of shame.

I was watching the ep with Lee Majors in last night and I thought that was one of the better ones. Nice tribute to the Six Million Dollar Man I thought (I suppose Jake is really a 21st century Steve Majors) - I used to love all those 70's/80's action-adventurers, perhaps that's why I like Jake. It doesn't hurt to watch a bit of bubblegum TV occasionally, especially when it's done well 🙂 I didn't think it was that saccharine - there have been a few darker moments although I have to admit it does usually seem to end "happily ever after"...

As for reality shows 😡 ::grrr:: Too many...make them stop! Is Paris Hilton the woman whose saucy home videos I keep getting spam about? What is the point of her? Famous for being famous and having a rich family...grr!...blood starting to boil...disengage rant module...blood pressure dropping...and relax...

Sometimes you think shows like Jake 2.0 should just say screw the networks and go direct to DVD.

It's explained here Direct to DVD TV shows why that isn't viable. Lots of Jossverse mentions.

The guy who plays Jake was in the Buffy episode 'I Only have Eyes for You'. Actors seem to get used again and again, from different shows. Nathan Fillion was on Firefly, and then Buffy. I guess they know they can trust them.
