The first time I watched an interview about Buffy with James Marsters I was just SHOCKED at his lack of an English accent.

He had me completely and utterly fooled. 😀

What does everyone think of James' accent in the role of Spike, and did he fool you??

I thought he did a top job. He did misprounce a few of our swear words at first (if you listen carefully in Season 2 you'll hear him say "Bollix") but he got the accent right the get go.

Random aside: Anthony Steward Head fakes his Giles accent -- his real accent is actually his North London Ripper voice.
 
Anthony used to have a show on BBC america, and you can tell when he was doing both shows. Because all of a sudden Giles would pop up hitting on a girl. Then when he wasn't filming BTVS it was different.

I like James' normal voice.
 
I was floored the first time JM spoke in his American Accent...I really thought he was British. Same thing with Alexis Denisof...he has a very slight accent in real life, but absolutely nothing compared to the show.

I love JM's real voice 😀

Did you guys see the Celeb adventures that Ally and Alexis showed up on?

Alexis didn't have his vocie or the Wes glasses, didn't recognize him (this was like 4 years ago)
 
I remember when I got season four dvds and Spike got an interview all to himself. At first, I was still hearing Spike *slow brain*. Then I realized, no accent! It was so weird. It was kinda sad too. I loved English accents, and then his was fake.

I also find it funny when he would put on an American accent in the show...it came out so slow and a sort of southern drawwwllll.....had me laughing!!! 😀 😀
 
Greenville is in Northern California... Greenville is about 305 miles away from Yosemite National Park. Witch is about 291 miles away from L.A. If that helps anyone... (eponinethen or MRFAITH)
 
It threw me a little --- he has a wonderful voice in whatever accent he chooses, always makes my spine tingle(and thats something!)

I can relate. I think the first commentary that I watched was a S3, and it had a brief interview with him. I was pretty surprised myself! I love accents ( guess it's a fetish of mine), and JM definately makes it look good! :1010:
