Unfortunately, James Earl Jones has just been reported as having passed away at the ripe old age of 93. An absolute powerhouse actor who was in plenty of film, tv, and theatre productions. Some people may remember him as Mufasa from The Lion King, or as the King of Zamunda from Coming to America. His most iconic role to myself, and many, will always be the unforgettable and menacing voice of Darth Vader. Following David Prowse’s passing in 2020, as of today, the original Dark Lord of the Sith is no longer with us.

It's ironic that his best known role is as just a character's voice, as he stuttered as a child and did not speak at all for some time. He was one of those actors who was around forever, and I saw in many great roles. My favorite role of his, though, was portraying Alex Haley in Roots. "You old African! I found you, Kunta Kinte!" Thinking of that scene still makes me tear up, it was so powerful. (Link to scene on YouTube)

I'm glad he had a long and successful life.
 
Should any member here live to be a ripe old age as he did, though I doubt any of us will be as successful - except maybe the boss, Buffy Summers.
