James Marsters in 'Dragonball'

This just makes me feel... horrible. It could be fun for, like, kids. And I suppose everyone's been working really hard to make this nice and so on. But watching JM playing a character from a show I already hated with every fibre in my body when I was 9, that's just... Urgh, argh.

I remember a guy doing like a presentation about it in elementary, and he got a really good grade, and I was soo angry.

Dragonball Z is NOT bad. Well, except for the 20-episode fight scenes, but at least they didn't drag out the search for the dragonballs. Wait.. they did that too. WHY did I like this show?

Probably because the underlying plots from the manga were actually quite good. Even if they were *ahem* slightly padded. XD

Yes, after the Frieza Saga, it was a lot better. My favorite Saga has to be the Trunks to Cell games saga. The Buu saga running a close second. Wow. I'm a nerd. Someone punch me.

I agree it doesn't look promising, but I'm happy that James gets to play the Big Bad in a $100m+ movie. I think that has to be a record for any Buffyverse actor.

This was such a lame show, hopefully they can make the movie bearable.

I remember watching an arc (because my brother watched it every day) where the final 5 minutes of some planet took place over the course of A FREAKING WEEK.

Lame, lame, lame.

Ahahahahahahaha it´s terrible indeed. I didn´t like it either... it´s was VERY lame.

But would be very funny and trash to see James Masters as a green thing xD Maybe it will be worst then Sarah in the Grudge. Let´s hope not lol

This sounds pretty good. I was pretty sure I was going to see it anyway, just because of the nostalgia of DBZ, and I like anime/manga. I guess a Whnedonverse face will make it worth it, even if it is a horrible conversion. As Lindsey Mac said, I think it is set in a different time to the old DBZ anime. Perhaps Vegeta doesnt feature as heavily in the story (im not well acquainted with the storyline) and this is why Spike was cast as Picollo instead. Surely Vegeta would have been the obvious choice for James to the casters if Vegeta features?

EDIT: Yeah, on IMDB Vegeta isnt even cast so he probably doesnt appear.

Vegeta doesn't come along until some years after the main fighting between Goku and King Piccolo takes place. So, no, he won't be in this movie. I do think that a movie of the Saijan saga might have been more interesting though. Vegeta was always a more fun villian than Piccolo, and Piccollo was better as an ally.

Oh come on, it honestly doesn't look horrible enough for people to actually go and hurt themselves... ON PURPOSE. A little corny? Yes. But not any less than Spider-man, X-men, or any more of those adolescent-targeted comics that most of us loved a lot more when we were younger. They've all been pretty successful with their live-action cousins too, and hey.. James could actually get a new 'breakout' role! I'm pretty excited, I loved Dragonball Z and James looks pretty spiffed up and evily in that slimy makeup! 🙂

You know James was 100% behind getting the "slimy makeup." The producers wanted King Piccolo to be youthful and handsome only with an alien-colored skin tone. James objected since he thought that would betray the series (King Piccolo was like a million years old), so he convinced the makeup girl to make him look that way (without any permission) and said he'd rather be fired than betray the franchise by having King Piccolo look youthful and handsome.
