James Marsters on possible TV movies

I can't find this info anywhere else on the board, and am amazed no-one else has posted it yet. I just read this off of buffy.nu

Appearing on the Australian television show Rove Live, Buffy and Angel star James Marsters revealed he had been approached by Joss Whedon to star in at least one of four television movies set in the Buffyverse.


Marsters did not provide any detail on the movies other than that each would focus on one particular character, and that either all four would be made or none at all. As far as Marsters was aware, only he has comitted to the project so far.


We'd speculate that other prime candidates for movies of their own would be Willow and Giles, and perhaps Wesley, and that if all four movies were part of an all-or-nothing deal, perhaps this implies all four would tell smaller parts of a larger, overarching story?

This has been rumored in the past, and honestly I think it would be the best way to go. 4 characters, 4 movies, and one overarching story. It would be nice if it were something to set up one big feature film with all of the characters. My pick for the four Characters I would like to see.

I'm with you on your character choices 100%. They would definitely be the ones I would want to see the most. The over-arching story would be great. Grrrr Argh! I hate not knowing whether this is going to happen. I would really like to see a Willow, Xander and Giles together again (... I'm permitted to dream, aren't I?)

Wow, really...I just hope they give us SOMETHING...my God they left us high and dry!

But I would be ok with just a Spike one...I doubt Wesley would be one of them for obvious reasons.
 
Willow, Giles, Spike and either Faith, Fred/Illyria (but to be honest I dunno where that would go), and one of the other actors who would actually agree.

Good thing is those actors are all up for it and Amy and ASH are the only ones with work at the moment so it could happen. If there was a Faith one we'd have to wait until next summer for Eliza to film it, unless Fox (or whoever it is that shows Tru) pulls Tru after a few eps.

It's different though, because it's more just me telling you why you should take the story with a grain of salt.

I'm thinking the first shot of the first movie opens with the four of them (this is the only scene we see the other 3 characters in) playing "high stakes" poker ;-) with Angel sitting there in his underwear, his clothes distributed among the "winners". The first story is about him. He narrates in the background, "How did I get here...From Champion to Chump!!" "Now that the world is rid of evil...nothing to do but wile away the hours playing silly games." "I remember when a good year was averting only one Apocolypse..." his voice trails off.

Then of course, we go in to back story (blah bla blah...gypsy curse, bla blah blah...Buffy, the Love of his Life)...and we're back to the future...he checks his email, feeds his dog, pops a disposo-meal in the microwave and turns on the TIVO....BUT WAIT someone has erased his program schedule

Anyway...you get the idea ;-))

It's interesting how many great characters have come out of the buffy-verse. I see a lot of people picking different combinations, and many different characters, but honestly, every combo interests me the same. "I'm like, ooh that's a great character. I would love to see a movie about that character". Basically, Joss and the creative writers at ME have written such amazing depth to so many characters that I think almost every person that has graced the screen in the buffyverse for more than 5 mins would make for an interesting 2 hours of telling. There are so many of them. Like ADAM before the demon, Whistler, Kate, Gwen, and hundreds more.

I know that this a strange list but I consider them the most intriguing(and probably those with the most potential because of their limited time on the shows.) characters.
2 From Buffy and 2 from Angel.
2 demons and 2 cows. 😀

Nice picks. What's up in Groo's world? I heard that he felt dejected at Cordy picking Angel over him, and in turn hit the sauce pretty hard. Last I heard anyone saw of him, he was singing bad drunken karaoke in vegas whilst doing the dance of sorrow.

Yeah, Groo went into rehab, where he met a talent agent and snapped up a job as a male model. He moved into a new condo complex which coincidentally used to be Cordelia's old apartment.

Groo lives with Phantom Dennis now, where their wacky neighbour drops in from time to time, and tries to sell them on this sit-com idea he wants to sell to UPN based on their lives.

The latest news is the Powers that be at the WB have already talked to Joss about doing TV movies... They want the TV Movies, Joss is thinking about doing them, they say the only thing is getting David back to portray Angel.. The Movies would alll interlink with one another, like a mini series, and it would have cast from both shows in it... I cant wait to see if this deal goes through..
 
I'd have to say that I would want to see the movies for Spike, Xander, Willow and Giles. But really I'd like to kind of see all the characters together again (I'm very sentimental).
 
I would like the films to be about Spike, Willow, Andrew and Cordelia. I think it would be good because all of those characters are completly different and it would be interesting to see what would happen if they all came together.
 
I hope David won't turn down the project. Sure, he wants to move on. Yeah, the Big Screen is terrific. Wouldn't want him to turn down work in order to do this but why not do this if it looks like the production values and storylines will be great. He may not need the money but work is always a good thing. Being out there is always a good thing. He could look at it like a commercial for HIM. Bet the network would advertise it like crazy. :love20:
 
The movies seem like a good idea, but I wonder how Joss'll put the storylines back together again--Angel and Buffy ended in such different directions. Also, did anyone else wonder how sunnydale and LA were close to each other and things like eternal midnight and a whole town disappearing didn't get spread around to the other show? maybe its just me.

Given what Andrew said when he visited, we could do one on the gang in LA (Angle, Spike, or Illyria-based), one on Willow and Kennedy in Brazil, one on Xander in Africa, and one on Dawn (since SMG and AST have other commitments, so probably won't have really big roles).
