Hollywood North Report - Canada's Premier Film and TV News Source

PROJECT: PIERRE HEIST (USA / MOW)
PRODUCTION COMPANY(S): Darius Films, Inc.
PRODUCER(S): Nicholas Tabarrok, Aaron Barnett
DIRECTOR: Gary Burns
CAST: TBA JAMES MARSTERS(Role unknown...)
LOCATION(S): Toronto
TENTATIVE START: November 3, 2005
DESCRIPTION: The true story of criminal partners Bobby Comfort and Sammy Nalo, who pulled off several elaborate heists, including a famed 1972 robbery at the Pierre Hotel, before the feds finally caught up with them. The robbery of Manhattan's Hotel Pierre, the most lucrative heist of its kind, was exceptional only for the size of the loot (some $11 million) and the smooth expertise with which it was executed. Bobby Comfort of Rochester, N.Y., evidently never had an instinct that was not criminal, even as a child. Physically lazy and mechanically inept, he avoided regular employment and turned first to card sharking and then to robbery. He spent years in reform schools and prisons, but through his mastery of the law was able to shorten his sentences. He found robbing hotels (and Sophia Loren) a handy way to make money.

HEIST (A.K.A. THE PIERRE JEWEL HEIST) (USA) - The James Marsters-led ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel") telefilm has been slated to air Friday, March 18 at 9:00/8:00c. Here's how USA's press materials describe the project: "A thief from the age of six, Bobby Comfort bounced in and out of prison for years. When he turns twenty-two, Bobby finally settles down and starts a family, determined to lead a calmer life. Bobby, however, soon is lured back into the only profession he knows, agreeing to help a friend rob a string of high-end New York City hotels. When their forays prove extremely lucrative, Comfort once again embraces his talent for crime. While his unsuspecting family believes he is traveling for business, Bobby and his partner are having the time of their lives conning wealthy socialites, culminating in the largest jewel heist in American history."

Most of you know already, but they've changed the name of the movie to "Cool Money" and the first 2 air dates are:

March 19th: 9:00pm Eastern/8:00pm Central
March 20th: 2:00am Eastern/1:00am Central

There are more air dates, so check the USA cable network listings. 🙂

And Yay! It's March! 😀

Hey, I was going to post this 'cause I saw the preview just last night.

I think this is the first movie I've seen JM in... I can't remember him in anything else besides BtVS and AtS...

The preview looks really good. 🙂 I've seen him in a couple of other movies and as a guest star on some other shows, but I am really looking forward to this movie. 😀

His characters name is Bobby Comfort.
I read some where that is going to be out on March 19.

Checked James's offical web site and it says that it's be rescheduled for March 18 or 19 on USA, 9pm to 11 pm.

Looking at the USA Network site's schedule, the first airing is at 9:00PM on March 19th (though they had it listed on the 18th before). It will be repeated at 2:00AM on the 20th; 4:00PM on the 24th and 12:30AM on the 25th from what I can tell.

I think that one of the really interesting things about the movie (besides looking forward to seeing James in another role 🙂) is that it's based on a real story, and Bobby Comfort was a real person. Here is a screencap from the preview/promo of a mug shot of James in the role and one of the real Bobby Comfort's mug shot from the book The Man Who Robbed The Pierre by Ira Berkow:

You know it's a movie and has already been filmed, so he won't be there... 🙂

YAY! The Cool Money page is finally up at: http://www.usanetwork.com/movies/coolmoney/ Though there's not much on it, there is a good description of the movie and the air dates' schedule. Also,
be sure and click on the link for the trailer if you haven't seen it yet.

I can't wait till this airs. I saw the preview for it a couple of times, looks good 😀 Thanks for the info all who info'd us in.

I thought that it was well worth the wait. 😀 It was a very enjoyable movie, and it was great seeing James in the lead. No spoilers, but he also did a voice-over (narration) so we got even more JM time, lol. The movie has some humor, some sweet "Awwww" times, and the casting was very good, IMO. Margot Kidder was really good as his 'over-blown' mom, and I liked the way that Robin Brà»lé played his wife. James did a great job in his understated portrayal of this career criminal who was basically a likable guy.

(And yes, James looks wonderful in it, with many different suits and other clothing changes, and even a few head-tilts and trademark smirks.)

Love it, love it, love it! Actually watching it right now! Squee! I don't want to give anything away...so I'll stop before I even begin. 🙂 "You didn't see their faces...but they were very nice"
