So James' music is awesome and I notice there's not a thread about it... sooo... What are your favorite James songs?

This is a difficult question for me because I kind of really love them all like you have no idea. I think my favorite song on Mad Brilliant would be a tie between Angel and Goodnight Sweet Girl. On Civilized Man, Katie and Smile and on Like a Waterfall... Looking at You and Up on Me... I think. But I love them all. SO much.

When I feel up to it (which should be tomorrow as I'm planning on making tomorrow a JM day), I'll post videos of my favorite performances.

I think Smile is my favourite of his. I also like Bad and Goodnight Sweet Girl.

I've been to one of JM's concerts and he's great live. Very intense and dedicated, and really knows how to work/interact with the audience.

Note about Smile: does it bother anyone else that the clouds do not turn green when the sun rises? And that the third person plural form of the verb to be is "are" not "is"? The only thing I don't like about the song are those two lines...

Geesh, way to pick apart a song. lol. I don't care about that, he's an artist and within the context of the song, they lyrics makes sense. There's not a real reason to pick it apart. lol. Sometimes being technically right, isn't always the best way to be creative. 🙂

I know... but it's just... it's a pet peeve of mine that if it doesn't change the feel or the syllables of a song, you should use proper grammar. And it wouldn't change the feel of the song at all for him to say "all I can see are her eyes" instead of "all I can see is her eyes." And the clouds turning green is just me being silly... I mean if the clouds turned green during the sunrise, scientists would be trying to figure out what was going on... and in the songs he states it like it's something that happens every day. It's just funny. I don't think I would change the cloud lyric although if I were to meet him, I would probably tease him about it... but the "are"/"is" lyric... I sing it "are" every time I sing the song...

Not everything in songs must be about real things. I actually think it's quite nice having more creative, metaphoric and maybe weird lines in songs. 😀

About James' songs, not really my kind of music, but I don't dislike it. I do have Civilian Man, but I don't really listen to it often, still I wanted to buy it and support James.

From what I remember, I like Katie... Who is it?

Don't quote me on this but I think he told an anecdote about that song at the concert I attended... and it was someone on the set of Buffy - an assistant or make-up artist or costume person. Of course I could be completely wrong but that's niggling at the back of my brain and I must have got it from somewhere!

Wow, now I cannot help but wonder if he had something with that woman he worked with. I mean, he couldn't have just written a song about someone who's "just" a co-worker. Maybe I should recheck the lyrics, maybe there's a clue there.

That's very weird now, and also kinda not. Because as I heard, he lost his verginity to 2 lesbians.... Huh.

I just found this on a website w/ James Q&A from past events:

Q: When did you lose your virginity ? (Audience howls)

JM: At 13, with a lesbian couple.

13 is seriously young for that, and with a lesbian couple? Damn James. Part of me thinks he was kidding here....

I've heard him tell the story several times... it was with a lesbian couple at 13. And hey, I was 12

Oh, thanks for the quote. I knew I saw it somewhere...

I guess he wasn't kidding by all of these the evidences. And yes, 13 is very young.

Yeah 13 is like obscenely young in my opinion. But good for him then lol cause he is a self proclaimed sex god if I recall correctly 😀

Yeah, but thinking of someone having sex at the age of 13 as a sex god... disturbing. I mean, yeah, today he's sex on legs, but it's hard to think about it THAT way.

I don't think he meant he was a sex god at 13 lol your right that's hard to think of. I remember reading it in an interview from a few years ago.. I'm trying to find the quote lol. I think he was referring to his current self.

"Q: Have you got a hidden talent that you've never told anyone about..... plate twirling or something like that?
(2001 Wizcon) Besides sex?....."

Of course, I got that. But he is what he is today, and he did the same thing (the sex) also at the age of 13. So it kinda blends, if you know what I mean.
