This was quite a surprise.

‘Supernatural’ Production Not Immediately Impacted By Jared Padalecki Arrest

Supernatural star Jared Padalecki was arrested over the weekend and charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault following an argument at an Austin bar, an arrest affidavit reveals. Padelecki is not currently in custody, according to online records with the Travis County Jail, and production on the 15th and final season of his CW series Supernatural is not currently affected by his arrest.

Texas native Padalecki has starred as Sam Winchester since the launch of Supernatural, which is about halfway through production on its its 20-episode Season 15, currently airing on the CW. The Austin resident was home on a planned break when the incident happened. He is not scheduled to be back at work in Vancouver, where Supernaturalfilms, until later this week.

Police were called to the Stereotype bar at around 2 a.m. on October 27, where officers say Padelecki got into a verbal fight with some people inside the bar. He was taken into custody after he allegedly struck the bar’s assistant manager and general manager in the face, after they had escorted him outside the establishment. His bond was set at $5,000, according to court documents.
As Supernatural is winding down, Padalecki is next set to star and executive produce Walker, a reimagining of CBS’ long-running 1990s action/crime series Walker, Texas Ranger. The series remains in development at the CW.

I read this last night. Had a bit of a lol cos it sounds like a normal night out here. No big deal.

Guess its lucky for me that pub lock ins arent public. I wonder what charges my weekend antics would attract?

I used to have Trimble navigation as a customer, so I know the Austin area pretty well. It is one of the two islands in the redneck sea (the former slave states - the other is Huntsville, Alabama). Austin is also where Felicia Day took her double major in mathematics and violin performance.

What else are you going to do in a bar in Austin? A lot of hippies live there and the drug culture is pretty well established. If he got thrown out of the bar, what did he do to deserve that? I am not going to pass judgement until I see evidence of whether it happened or whether there was any justification.

Maybe the patrons were giving him trouble about trying to replace Chuck Norris as Walker, and he tried to show them that he could.

Well, now I feel super Swedish or something because I’m over here clutching my pearls!

But then, I think fine, young men can get into bar fights but grown men with families really should know better. I’ll clutch my pearls either way, because I think it sounds like a pretty big deal.

young men?
When I began reading the article I felt for him, then you said about him becoming the exec prod for Walker, that caused my mind to change somewhat. I hope he get 2 years in prison, bloody Walker.

Not the first time he's been in a bar fight, isn't that how he broke his arm years back?

I think Im in love
"Studio 54 meets the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Saved by the Bell with a nod to Rubell. A chance to relive high school, but with infinitely more style." That is the description of the bar. Oh good lord. Lost some respect that that is one of his favorite hang-outs. And looking at the pictures of the place I lose even more respect. I hate those places.

is that a bar or a sitcom?

For over 15 years, he and Jensen have managed to avoid media disasters like this. Fifteen years.
That's an incredible accomplishment in Hollywood, and I think we all know it.

But yes, this IS a pretty big deal. And if it had to happen, thank God it's during the last season. Given the fact that Jared is a big, crazy Southern boy, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Getting drunk and beating someone's ass is just another Friday night in Texas. 😂

I'm curious how the CW will spin this. Even if it is the last season, it has to be addressed. Jared will probably say something about it in the near future. Or not. *shrugs*

Agree, it is an accomplishment! They've seemed so wholesome to me.

Lol, I just keep picturing whoever was on the receiving end. Jared's a big dude, a lot of muscules, pretty intimidating if drunk and angry I imagine!

Jared can be pretty scary, yes. He has a terrible temper even when he's sober. lol
Jared seems to be the cheekiest of the lot. It just doesn't surprise me. If he hadn't been famous no one would blink an eye, he probably wouldn't have been arrested either. Could be good timing though, get a bit of publicity for the final season. Gotta use those stunt skills somewhere! And I bet he gets more than his fair share of ribbing by the other blokes at the bar. That hair just asks for it.

If he hadn't been famous, he definitely would've been arrested...and because of his size, probably tased. Or "accidentally" shot. Cops tend to overreact when faced with a giant, drunk dude who's beating on people. 😂

In fact, his celebrity is probably what saved him from worse treatment.

Ah ok. I assumed texas and wa were quite similar. A smack in the face is no biggy, a glass in the face is.

But he wasn't just beating on people, he was beating (and it wasn't beating) on the assistant manager of the bar he owned who didn't like how he was talking to customers and told him to leave. He's the owner of the damn bar and his little assistant manager makes him go outside? He deserved to be slapped. But apparently the slap wasn't enough for the guy to learn his role and shut his mouth and he kept yapping. So he got punched.

It's not like he was out there wailing away on citizens or patrons.

I thought I remembered a story about him and Jensen getting in an all out bar brawl before too. It's not an unusual thing to happen when alcohol is involved. I just don't get the shock factor.

I wonder if the managers will keep their jobs after this. Or if they'll do the sue thing cos they know he has the cash. Maybe it will just end up being another funny convention story.

Or maybe, considering the small amount of bail, they just did it as a way to drum up free publicity on the bar. What man can't take a slap and a punch? It seems a bit... underwhelming.

Fights are ugly. It is not like the movies. I got in a few scraps as a teen, and it didn't scare me, because I'm quite large, and I figured I'd make out all right, but after getting to witness people and sometimes friends get properly messed up, I decided that violence isn't all that cool.

But he wasn't

Jared and Jensen had gone to a bar one night, right after a bunch of guys had been fighting. After overhearing what had happened, they both decided to leave. But when they got to the front of the place, a few of the (still drunk) douchebags thought they were part of the group they'd been fighting earlier...so, they swung at the boys; and promptly got their asses whooped by J & J. 🤣 Some of them were hospitalised, in fact. My God, that's beautiful.

As for the employees keeping their jobs...I'd say Jared won't fire them, since they were only doing their jobs. He knows he screwed up, and I'm guessing that after he sobers up, he'll be really apologetic. (It's the managers' job to run the place, after all, and a drunken, 6' 4" mouthy beast can kill business) But while Jared may forgive them, I'm guessing Gen won't. We'll see what happens.
