Jasmine-Cordelia conflict

I was a major Cordelia fan when she was on Angel Season Three (And just to make things clear I am in no way a "Cangel" 'shipper, I'm a Doyle/Cordelia 'shipper) But when she was possessed by Jasmine it still bothers me that she used her body. Even though it wasn't really Cordelia it still bothers me to this moment as I type. I wonder if there's anyone else out there like this who shares the same thoughts

The first time I watched I was like wtf?? Why did they do that? Now i can like Connor said tell the difference. It is hard sometimes because you see Cordy but I know it isn't her doing that. Sometimes it is confusing as to when it stopped being Cordy but it doesn't bother me much anymore. The thing that bothers me is that they kind of just left it and we didn't get her wonderful episode your welcome until the next season.
 
Yeah, I get what you guys are saying. And it was cruel having to wait several episodes to find out what happened to Cordelia, she was one of my favorite characters, but I know it's Jasmine that did the act but doesn't it bother some people when we had to watch her murder Lilah?
 
It does bother me, the whole idea of Jasmine using Cordy's body bothers me.
Now personally I would have preferred seeing Cordy turn evil on her own somehow, I bet she would have done it with far more class and wickedness.
But the way it was portrayed with Cordy waltzing around doing out of character things because of some demon possessing her... nah, I don't like it. Not at all.

I'm not sure I see what you mean. Are you upset because Jasmine used Cordelia's body? I guess it's sort of flattering in a way, because Jasmine felt Cordelia was strong enough to use as a vessel - but yes, it was really sad what happened to Cordelia.

I know I wasn't very clear, didn't cross my mind at the time. But Jasmine committing the acts in Cordelia's body bothered me a lot
Cordelia was basically raped in every single way a human being can be raped. It's sick and disturbing. And it's not something that I wanted to happen to My Cordy!!!!!!!

I'm able to differentiate between Jasimine/Cordy and real Cordy.

What I don't like is how "real" Cordy acted when she had amnesia (supposedly before Jasmine manifested herself). She acted completely out of character like some strange third personality.
 
I was just disappointed that Cordelia was possessed the whole season. When you think about it, the last season we get the "real" Cordelia is season 3 and her one appearance in season 5

I don't mind that she was possessed for much of the season as I think season 4 is epic. I think the problem is that she's off the show after all of that. Had she been able to return back to her true self and stay on the show then I think what happened to her would be weighted higher with fans than it is now.

Agreed. If she had stayed on in season 5, Charisma would have had some great material of dealing with everything that she did while possessed. It would have also helped her bond with Angel more, as he deals with similar issues. I'm sad we never got to see that play out.

Yes and yes to both of these comments. She would have had to deal with the actions she while Jasmine-controlled (similarly to Angel & Spike having to deal with their pre-souled actions), plus her conflict with the decision to move to W&H (I dont' think she would have taken to that well). I have said it before, but I wouldn't have even minded if she would not have been in every single season 5 episode (that's how she wanted to do it, so she would have more time with her infant son, Joss didn't like that). They did good things with those characters who only had part-season arcs (Doyle, Darla, Lindsey, Lilah, Holtz).

It's not that I can't seperate between the two versions of Cordy, it's that they killed the character completely. Because then they put her in a coma and then she died. It's like it ended there, without her! Cordelia's fading out from the show was done without Cordelia. It was her body, but she never came back. The one who walked there wans't Cordelia, she went away without a proper goodbye. And no, You're Welcome doesn't count.

So that's what bugs me.
