Probably no resolution for Angel's intricate love-life

'Anyone expecting any resolving of Angel's love-life will be disappointed. The series will probably be just as open-ended on that aspect..' Jeff Bell answered Fans' questions in Angel UK Mag #8.

From Alicia: It doesn't seem like loving Buffy has been a major factor for Angel on his own series. Do you see Angel as truly loving Buffy (The Buffy that is now as opposed to the girl of his memories)? Their transcendant love doesn't seem to have carried over to the newer show. What are your thoughts on this one?

My thoughts are that Angel is an adult. I think he and Buffy have come to a place, and you got a sense of this near the end of Buffy, where they were thinking, "We love each other, but the way things are now it ain't gonna work out. We're adults, so let's move ahead with our lives." One of the things that's interesting about my position is that we get lots of fan mail. Some of the fan mail says Spike and Buffy should be together. Some people think Angel and Buffy should be together forever. And we get fan mail from people who think Angel and Cordelia should be together forever. There are lots of different factions with lots of different beliefs, and what's kind of fun is that they're all right in some way. To land too hard on any one idea takes away some of the fun of it. I will say that for everyone who wants whatever pairing together I think they'd be ultimately be disappointed if we actually did it. Once you're together, what's there to pine for? And for people who want them apart, if there's some way to keep their love alive, there's something to keep those people interested and questioning.

So he doesn't see a resolution...I really wanted closure there. But it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Thanks for posting this Magui.

I want Buffy to at least come back at help, even if she and Angel or Spike go running off into the moon.

I think that while this issue is important and the resoulution would be good, doesn't anyone want to know about weather the Shansu Prophecy will be cleared up? Or do you suppose they'll leave it open ended incase there are future opportunities to do stuff with the show?

It kind of figures, Sarah doesn't want to come back, so I guess the Shanshu prophecy is something that has to wait, perhaps they can resolve some of the other issues.
