That's it. Diminished_9th got me started on this, and I just have to know who watches this show. Yes, I saw some of you put it on your Appointment TV lists, but I've forgotten who did. Joan of Arcadia is one of my new favorite shows, absolutely brilliant. Maybe a little predictable at times, but every show has its flaws. Who isn't in love with Amber Tamblyn??

Many critics were suprised at its performace and achievement because Miss Match was supposed to get the better ratings. But I've heard that Miss Match got kicked and Joan's sticking with it. Very unexpected.🙂

And come on, Diminished_9th must agree with me... but doesn't cute God boy remind you of adorable-sexy Oz/Seth. Me thinks the show's writers have a new actor to play God next week... or every week.😉

What do you love most about the show? I find Amber/Joan rather amazing. She's a hoot.

I love that the plot doesn't have Joan doesn't saving the day every week, like other shows like Early Edition. I think one of the messages of the shows is that making little changes in your life will make it better in small, but noticable ways.

The writing reminds me very much of Buffy in highschool: quick-witted and real. The main group of students is a group of "outcasts" who make a tight-knit group amoung themselves. But it's not a knock-off, it definately has its own premise, and style....it's more "realty-based" then Buffy, but it's still has a lot of the same elements that I love most about Buffy.

And new god in the next episode....hmm, where'd I hear THAT before??? 😀 Actually, I don't think it will happen, simply because of cute boy god. It's not that he reminds me of Seth (the epitome of all things delicious, but the personas they would play is mosttly the same. But of course, Seth as cute god boy would be infinitely better!

Don't hate Early Edition. It was the best show ever (after Buffy/Angel and The Prisoner). It may have been a little predictable or formulaic at times, but it was far more interesting to watch than Joan of Arcadia. Joan of Arcadia seems to try too hard not to allow anything out-of-the-ordinary to happen (its creators seem to forget that they have an omniscient superbeing inexplicably manifesting itself in every episode). The whole show seems to be culminating into something bigger, but it never seems to happen. "God" is supposed to be working in mysterious ways, but the divine plan does not seem to be going anywhere. I have nothing against unexplained events (I would not be a Prisoner fan if I did) but there is nothing of significance in Joan to explain, so it just seems to come off as kind of preachy and pseudo-religious. Am I missing something? What does everyone love so much about this show? And is "God" a body snatcher or does he just create these bodies to talk to Joan with?

I've watched like one or two episodes of the show. It was ok I guess, I could start watching it if I remember when it's on lol.

I have nothing against the show, but I don't like watching it as much. It's like watching the life of a normal teenage girl with God just appearing everywhere. I'm not invested in any of the characters, so everything is uninteresting to me.

I agree exactly SlayerAngel. The show is just about a normal kid's life with occasional cameos by the Almighty. That is not very exciting when you are watching it on television. I am much more entertained by Early Edition, because interesting and extraordinary things happen. This "normal life" stuff is only fun when it is portrayed in an interesting way, like in Buffy. The interesting part of Joan of Arcadia does not really make anything all that interesting happen. God tells her to take up cheerleading or build a boat, but so what? She might have decided to do those things on her own anyway. It is like watching a kid with a tail live a completely normal life. Unless the kid's tail causes extraordinary experiences in his life, why does it even matter?
