Joe Paterno Fired

I hear you, and I don't think I've finished sorting through all the issues. I do believe that there is some sense in which McQueary's status as a whistleblower, and his status as the (anticipated) star witness for the prosecution, have given him some measure of protection in his job that Paterno lacked.

I need to keep thinking this through. But IMO the issue whether he should be fired (yes) and the issue why he hasn't been fired are distinct.

That could be true. Another thought that just occured to me, he was a grad student when he witnessed it, which could make it a little more difficult in letting him go.

Just read that McQueary has been put on administrative leave.
