Here it is, folks, the movie that I've waited literally half a century to see:

Though from what the trailer shows, all of the talk about "adhering to Burroughs' original story" haven't seemed to pan out, it still looks like what my dad would have called a "rip snortin' good time," so I will definitely be there when the doors first open. I know that a lot of people are going to say that it looks a whole lot like a cross between "Avatar" and "Star Wars," with a little "Conan the Barbarian" tossed in for good measure, but that's probably more appropriate that you might think, since Burroughs' Mars series was the inspiration for the first two, and Burroughs was a contemporary of Robert E Howard, creator of Conan, and both series were written in a time when one writer's plot elements were freely borrowed (what would now be called plagiarized) by his contemporaries and competitors, often at the specific request of the various pulp magazine publishers.
