Ok, I love weird. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic. Edward Scissorhands is a classic. But where is the weirdly likable Johnny Depp and the twisted yet well written Tim Burton movie? My hopes are not high for Barnabus and that's tragic, indeed!
Why does Johnny hate his own hotness and insist on always playing strangely creepy characters??? Yes, I do love his weirdness but come on, you can't forget to throw a little charisma in there! Why Johnny, why??????!!!!!!!! 😛

Hadn't realized that so many people disliked Tim Burton. Honestly I'm not a big movie fan, but Burton's movies are the only ones that I am willing to climb out of my hole and actually go to the movies for. I must say, I cringed a couple of times at the comments. I've seen plenty of Burton movies, and enjoy each one. Of course some I'm not a big fan of, but for the most part I love 'em.
Charlie in the Chocolate Factory is not my favorite. It's okay, but Wonka was way too creepy for me.
And Johnny Depp plus Burton and Carter! I love that. Sweeney Todd was great.
I don't know how everyone can pinpoint who exactly is "talented" or not. I find all three to be very good at what they do.
And no, I don't mind the gothic approach that Burton goes for. Although all of his movies may have the same tone, they are still very different. He puts a little twist to things and puts out movies that aren't just ghost flicks or Nicholas Sparks love stories.
Frankenweenie and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter! Can't wait.

I went to see Dark Shadows today and was frankly disappointed.
Both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton need to make something new and different. Now it's still enjoyable but they aren't any surprises anymore. I used to watch their movies being like "That was brilliant", now it's more like "Yeah, pretty much what you would have expected".
Tim Burton's movie become too much of the same, it was better when he had diversity (Ed Wood, Mars Attack, Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands....You could still feel the Burton touch but it looked different enough).
As for Johnny Depp, he needs to stop playing that kind of characters for a while. He's the kind of actor that you watch seeing a character, not the actor behind, but now, most of his roles have the same mimics and intonations and everything so it's basically the same character with different clothes. Jack Sparrow, the Mad Hatter, Barnabus are the same weird-strange-different character with different costumes. What I mean is, Depp seems less and less versatile when he always plays the same.

I don't claim to be a Burton fan by any means, in face, I tend to dislike msot of his movies cuz they're too... goth and, imo, fake-poetic.
However, I did enjoy this movie. It was funny and well made. Not my favourite, but I was happily surprised and did not regret watching it.
The only thing I didn't like was Eva Green. Reminds me of Camelot... Oh the horror....

this movie is WACK! dark shadows was a gothic horror soap opera. not some weird ass "comedy". Tim Burton needs to sit down & RETIRE.
