Jonathan Instead Of Andrew

Do you think that Season 7 would have been better if it had been Jonathan as the "guest-age" instead of Andrew? He seemed to me to be the least evil of the three criminal masterminds, and it couldn't have hurt, fighting the First Evil, to have someone who could wield a magic bone on your side.
 
In a way it would have been cool especially since we've known Jonathan as a character since basically the start of the series. Having him survive Sunnydale and finally find his place with the Scoobies who never really paid him any attention, but still had a big presence in his life.

The only problem with that is that it would be completely out of character for Jonathan to kill Andrew. Jonathan wasn't a killer and had more of a conscience than Andrew. He even helped Buffy stop Warren when he got his hands on those orbs.
 
I think I'd prefer Andrew as the guestage really, we really didn't get to find out too much about him when the Trio were first around, so having a new character develop over that time was good. Plus I think Jonathan's character was one that never really meshed with the Scoobs and I can't see that changing even if he was the last one standing. In my brain, I see him as far more awkward in terms how he may interact with the potentials... whereas Andrew had a natural ability to be less uncomfortable in a predicament.
 
I prefer Andrew to Jonathan, though maybe they would have turned Jonathan into an equally interesting supporting character. Andrew got to be the humor outlet I'm not sure Jonathan could have been.

I like Jonathan better than Andrew (Four characters in-between the two on my favorites list, actually), but Andrew had a bit more to offer. Jonathan's story arc basically ended with his revelation and subsequent murder.
Anyway, I can't see Jonathan pushed by The First into killing Andrew.
Andrew is more gullible than Jonathan, more unfamiliar, more willing to commit crimes, therefore more likely to do The First's bidding. Besides, who would The First become to make Jonathan do those things? Is there anybody in Jonathan's life on the show who died and meant something to him? He didn't like Warren at all by the end of Season Six, he had no parent figures or real friends, and the few 'friends' he did have, or at least people he was friendly with, kinda rejected him after his time with Warren. Andrew was his only friend, but he isn't dead. So the concept of it being Jonathan surviving wouldn't have worked from a storytelling point of view (If it was a matter of who deserved it more, Jonathan should have lived, but then Andrew wouldn't have been able to develop over the season. In a way, Jonathan indirectly help to develop Andrew's life).
 
I always loved Jonathan and despised Andrew, so I definitely wish we had gotten Jonathan as a Season 7 character instead. I think with Jonathan already knowing the Scoobies, he would have fit into the show a lot better. Andrew got some really funny lines, but he was seriously annoying to me a lot of the time. I missed Jonathan a lot and was so sad when Andrew murdered him.
 
I do think that if it was Jonathon, because of what he had done, he wouldn't have gone as far as he did. Whereas Andrew did, the on screen look of Andrew and Spike was good, I doubt that Jonathon would have been a watcher in training or sent to WR&H in Damage.
Also I liked the actors acting in Transformers, so heres for Andrew.
 
I would have LOVED the character who got to live and become part of the gang to have been Jonathan. We'd had his character with us since season two. Andrew was around for a whole season and he gets to replace the long term character? Doesn't seem right. This was one of my biggest pet peeves with season seven, actually.

Furthermore, while Andrew has comic relief as a value I think Jonathan had more depth.
 
I think I prefer Jonathan.

However, when it comes to humour, I am not denying that there could have been more potential in Andrew- however, I would have preferred Anya to resume her role being comedic relief.

That said... the idea of Jonathan getting tortured and heckled and mistreated makes me cringe so much...
 
It would have been cool to see Jonathan, but we'd already discovered a lot about him since the high school era. Plus, Jonathan had never been one to stand for himself much (except in Superstar), so I have a feel he would've been less of a side-kick than Andrew was.

And I quite liked Andrew's comic relief moments. He was almost like a new character since we'd only seen him for one season before. I think he had more possible developments for his character than Jonathan could have had at that point.
 
Actually, I prefer Andrew to Jonathan. I thought Andrew was really hilarious and Tom Lenk and Emma Caulfield worked well together in the comedy aspect.

I don't believe Season 7 would have been better, because after all in regards of the plot Andrew wasn't so important and neither would have been Jonathan, had he taken the place of his 'friend'.
Anyway, apart from the funny lines Andrew provided, I do prefer Jonathan. Andrew's crime was to me one of the worst (if not the worst) of all the Buffyverse and his redemption never truly convinced me. Also I've always felt he was forgiven too easily and quickly.
