In superstar he managed to get everyone, bar Adam, to believe he was this amazing guy, how did he manage that, I know they said it was a spell, but changing people memories have shown to be hard and especially on such a big scale. Also given that he had such little time to learn all about magic, from knowing none in season 3 to doing that in season 4.

Yeah, it's a pretty massive spell. I never really thought of Jonathon having that scope of magical capacity.

But then again, maybe he didn't. After all, it didn't take much for the threads to begin unraveling on his imaginary world, as you said it wasn't nearly powerful enough to fool Adam and his senses. I always kind of got the impression that Jonathon was doing that spell out of desperation, but he didn't have the ability to enact it effectively.

It wasn't as comprehensive as the monks' spell that made everyone believe Dawn had always been Buffy's sister. Johnathan's spell only came apart because when he faced the polar opposite he had created as part of his spell in order to save Buffy.

Adam seeing through the spell is an interesting plot point, just like Anya's abillity to see before anyone else that Spike had regained his soul in Season 7. Maybe it should be considered part of certain demons' extended senses.

If the geek trio could learn how to make someone invisible in season 6, maybe that came from Johnathan - he certainly knew magic by then, but so did all three of the trio.
