Joss Addiction

Not so much a sheep or a Joss Addiction, But im one of them that when I see his name il have a look at what it is etc...
I could never really get into Firefly im ashamed to say, It just didnt seem my kind of thing.
Dr Horrible is fantastic though and im looking forward to 'Dollhouse' muchly.
So I wouldnt say im a sheep.

I would say Its more of a Buffy and Angel addicition then a Joss Addiction for me.
 
^ I think that if Joss and I were ever in the same room, fur would fly. I disagree with him on just about every political and social issue there is. But, like you said, he does make some damn good TV.

You'd be amazed how seemingly nice people blow up over issues such as guns and socialism.
I love Joss, but I can't say I'm addicted to him. I didn't bother going to the Dr Horrible website until it had been out for several days, and I didn't even watch all of it. It wasn't bad but I got interrupted and I didn't think it was great enough to make a priority to finish...so yeah I still haven't seen it all.

But I do love Buffy and Angel, and I like Firefly and Serenity well enough, and I think Dollhouse will be better than all of them, and I'm super excited for Joss's films that are in development.

Theres even bits of Buffy and Angel thats a joke. and everybody knows it.
 
Hmm... Well, I don't necessarily agree with you... but... yes, I am addicted. Within the last 2 year I've spent:
Around $135 on Buffy: Season: 2,3,4,5,6,7. (I had 1&6 before this year, but I wanted a slim set of 6)
Around $65 on Angel: Season: 1,2,4,5.
$35 on Firefly and Serenity.
$10 on Serenity: Those Left Behind (just got it today! WOOT!!)
Roughly $55 on Buffy: Season 8 comics
$4 on Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog <- lol, at the price compared to everything else... 😛
(can't remember exactly) $15 on OMWF Soundtrack
$1 on Angel: Theme on iTunes (lol, had to add it)
Probably, roughly, around, $20 on other Whedon merchandise. Ex: t-shirts

WILL spend $10-$20 on Dr. Horrible Soundtrack.
WILL spend (maybe) $20-$40 dollars on Dr. Horrible t-shirts.

Which comes to a grand total of...
around $385!!!!
 
I'm addicted. Sure. I'm not even ashamed. Now, I didn't watch Dr. H -- but that's because these days, I'm either drugged + asleep or at work or at the doctor's office. Stupid knee. But I'll totally follow his work. To me, Joss is for TV what Shakespeare was for the play or what Jane Austen was for the novel. All of these artists took a popular and not particularly highly regarded genre and added complex layers of meaning. I'm not saying there weren't other great playwrights or novelists working in these respective time periods; I'm just saying that these are the names that everyone still knows. They stood the test of time. I think Joss Whedon will stand the test of time, too. His work in television is really quite astounding.

So yeah, I'm addicted... but not without reason. Joss has an amazing talent. He works hard. He delivers the good stuff. He deserves legions of adoring fans.

Bullsh*t!! You can not say that everything Joss does is crap. Because:
1. This is, in it's entirety, a Joss Whedon forum. It's kinda messed up.
2. You haven't seen his other work.

Seriously, have you ever seen Firefly, Serenity, or Dr. Horrible? If not, you have no right to say his other stuff is crap.

And if he has? Of course he has the right. It´s a stupid thing to say if he hasn´t seen them. But if he has he has every right. Of course it depends on how he says it. But not be able to say his opionion just because some of us wouldn´t like it is, well just wrong. Simple as that. We´re better than that. We´re loving, kind people but to "force" others to think the same or just shut up I really disagree with. It gives me the vibe of a sect or something. But at least I won´t give you a negative rep.

That said, Lee is known to push peoples buttons just to get a reaction and maybe that´s just what has happened now. And Lee, have you watched Firefly yet? And not just a few episodes. You need to watch it all. I didn´t love it after the first episodes either.

1. This is not a Joss Whedon forum, This is a Buffy and Angel forum first and foremost.

2. Ive seen Serenity. Nothing special. Read the comics. Now they are bad.

I will admit that Serenity stinks in comparison to Firefly. Not as bad as the Buffy movie stunk in comparison to the show, but there is enough to make the distinction that movies really aren't Joss's forte.

Although, I think you guys are BOTH right about it being a Buffy/Angel Forum AND a Whedon forum...if only because Buffy and Angel are Joss's biggest projects to date.

I have to admit that I really had NO hope that I'd like Firefly. I ended up liking it a LOT, but I really thought I'd hate it. And it took me days to watch Dr. Horrible, it's not that I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but the first 3 minutes didn't grab me right away so I just waited.
I also don't think Dollhouse LOOKS all that great. I have no doubt I'll enjoy it and watch it. But, then again, I watch EVERYTHING.
I'm not crazy enough to watch the Office episodes Joss did...but I don't like the Office and I see no point in watching just those for the heck of it.

I CAN say, that I LOVE how Joss views the world. I love the sarcasm and the way he words things. And, I discovered after watching Charmed on TNT yesterday, I LOVE the "gray" area that he creates where other shows choose to show only black and white. It makes everything more "real" and helps makes the characters that he works so hard to create more real.
We couldn't debate nearly as much if it weren't for all those "gray" areas and that makes it fun.

Joss seems to have a handle on the world and an respect for his viewers that is unlike anyone else I've come across. On the other hand, I think it's likely that some people just like the "content" and not the writing. I know there are some who just like vampires. Kind of like I NEVER saw myself enjoying a Sci-Fi/Western....my stomach turns even thinking of such a prospect.

That's not what I'm saying. Whether it's his opinion or not, Joss Whedon's work is NOT crap. Even if YOU don't like it, you have to know that it really is amazing, and a whole bunch of people like it.
 
Why would i not like it but at the same time know its amazing.
Joss is not god, mate. And, its possible to do something good, but then do something else crap, like Jossy Wossy

Well, that just doesn't work. If his OPINION really is that some of his work is good and some is crap...then it kind of makes it crap in his eyes. It would also tend to reason that if you thought it was crap that the people who DO like it....well, morons that like crap.

Anything else would be like saying that Jewish people should admit that Christians "have it right" and Democrats should agree that Republicans have the best ideas. It just doesn't work that way.

1. I LOVE Joss, it's in my DNA to defend him.
2. Why would you say Joss' work is crap when you're using a part fo a forum dedicated to HIS work.
3. I have no problem with people voicing their opinions. I'm actually extremely open-minded, believe it or not. It's just the way he said it that got under my skin. If he would've said something like, "Meh, Buffy and Angel are cool, but I'm not a fan of his other work", I would've just ignored his post. I guess it just ticks me off that people would talk about the creator of some of my favorite... things like that.
4. With that said, most of you are right about his opinion and stuff, but I've got opinions too ya know?


5. The comic Those Left Behind sucked, but Serenity is one amazing ass movie. Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. Firefly is better, but still.


EDIT: To tell you the truth, I've never seen anything that was completly horrible coming out of Joss Whedon's head.
 
Since Lee just got all of this started because he was bored, it´s kind of stupid to go on. But I just woke up and need my brain to start working. Maybe this can help. Probaly won´t though.

Because it´s actually possible not to enjoy everything someone makes just because you like/love some of his/hers/their work? And you shouldn´t lie? We all know Less wasn´t serious but that doesn´t mean that the "conclusion" can´t fit someone elses opionion. Whether it´s about Joss, an artist/band, actor or what ever.

Just because you love one (or 30) kind(s) of ice cream doesn´t mean you love every single flavour there are.

I do think it's fact that Joss' work is pure genius, but that's not the point.

Like, I said earlier, he just said it so bluntly that is made me mad. That's all, and now I realize that he was just trying to make peope mad, but still. I had to say something.
 
And the lesson here?
Before letting Little Willy get you all riled up, make sure someone left him something shiny to look at or a shoe to chew. It's never good when he gets bored, you could come home to your couch all chewed up.
