Not sure if it's posted in the right forum, so mods feel free to move.

If you're reading this thread you probably know that Buffy ends up in the sack with a gal. In an interview with Newsarama, Joss said the following about the encounter:

Joss Whedon said:
It's not a huge life change for Buffy. She's not gay. Sexuality is a spectrum. Many of us have experimented in our youth "“ that's what youths are for.

I was wondering. Has Joss done some experimenting himself in his younger years? You can't really make a statement like that and then not have done it yourself, can you?

Just in case anyone is wondering. Joss is married to Kai Cole and has a three year old daugher (Squire) and a five year old son (Arden).

It wouldn't surprise me if he had. Joss strikes me as the type of person who wouldn't be afraid to "experiment" if for no other reason than to better understand that point of view for his writing.

Probably. Most people have. And he seems very open-minded, so yeah, why not? And look at his characters, for example I believe he has said something about Angel and Spike and the possibility they have experimented. Of course we cannot just make assumptions about his private life based on the characters of the Buffyverse, but you know what they say, writing is always a bit autobiographical.

If Joss has experminted, it doesn't bother me. As long as he keeps up the being the writer he is, I'm happy.

I think with Angel and Spike it would have been more a case of Angelus establishing and reinforcing his dominance over William than any sort of "experimenting." It just seems like Angelus would do, and also might have been a reason for William becoming Spike, in order to distance himself from the experience. Vampire William just didn't seem to me as aggressive as vampire Spike.

Gotta disagree there. I think it happen well after William "became" Spike. I'm guessing maybe not too long before Angelus got cursed.

The exact timing isn't really important to me, I just meant that is seened more an act of domination than of any sort of romantic interlude.

Right - Joss Whedons 'exit' became an 'entrance' for a night just so one day he could write a neat little scene of two girls canoodling😉

Don't mix words, just say what you mean!
Can't really say I am shocked. Brave man to hint at it for sure. I love your brain Joss so no matter what, I always will! 🙂

Joss has already said it wouldn't have happened if the show was still on air. If that's the case then it shouldn't happen in the comic, not becuase Buffy slept with a girl but because the comic is the continuation of the show and anything that happens in the comic should be something that would happen on screen. Well that's what I think anyway. How else can you stay through to the series?

Why not though? Because it's TV, or because TV Buffy is somehow totally straight? Please, Buffy already did that with Faith years ago, they just never showed it on TV... Hm.

Because it's American television. I don't think the MAIN character of a show has ever have a same sex relationship, unless it was either a designed as a true ensemble (Brothers & Sisters) or something like Will & Grace.

There was "Ellen," though the show didn't last very long after she came out
