Colbie Smulders was confirmed Monday to join Jackson in what is sure to be several cameos throughout future Marvel Studios/Disney films, and ultimately star in the 2012 Avengers film. Smulders is best known for her regular role as Robin Scherbatsky on the CBS series How I Met Your Mother. Her statuesque figure and model looks makes her a dead wringer for a panel of Steve McNieven's art in the 'Civil War' storyline. This is her first major role in a feature film.

In a lot of Avengers related threads on here, people have been saying Joss should probably look towards more mainstream Hollywood talent, rather than pulling from TV actors he knows.

It's also been leaked that Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah Walker on NBC's Chuck) will round out the Avengers cast. I love HIMYM, and enjoy Chuck, but as much as I like Cobie, I'm not sure that she & Yvonne can keep up with Robert Downey jr.'s acting chops...
 
I'm super excited for Cobie to join the Whedonverse because then three of the five regular HIMYM cast members will be Whedonverse people. NPH, Aly, and Cobie. 🙂

And Yvonne Strahovski is hotttttt! And talented! So I'm SO excited for this too!!!
 
I really hope that this movie works out alright. Balancing all of those superheroes in a comic book is one thing (if you don't need Hawkeye this month, you can always use him in the next issue) but with a roughly 2 hour movie, you have to give each character something to do that both displays their powers, but also pertains to the story line. It's gotta be a heck of a juggling act.
 
It'll be interesting to see if she can pull it off, but if Joss seems to think she can then I'm sure it'll work out.
 
I'm kind of disappointed, I don't care for her as an actress. Ah well, perhaps she'll surprise me 🙂
 
yeh its pretty awesome. she was in Tru calling thought she was very convincing in that. Hopefully there should be some comedy in the avengers , well am guessing it will since Chris Evans is in it and hes just like Ryan Renolds he just can't stop telling jokes
 
That's cool! I'm really looking forward to seeing that movie.

Normally I'm not really a superhero fan. I like the Batman movies, but not Iron Man or Spider-Man.
But I'm really interested in that movie, because it's directed by Joss and because Samuel L. Jackson is one of my favorite Actors.

And now Cobie. I love How I Met Your Mother and I'm really excited about her playing a character in Avengers.
 
I read this the other day and was quite happy to see Cobie has won a role on Avengers 2012. I'm super excited for this film and not just because Joss is writing and directing the film. I think its going to be superb, bring on May 2012 I say! 😀
 
I'm keeping my hopes low for this movie. There can be too much of a good thing. I'm afraid it'll fall flat. As for Cobie I don't really care one way or another, more happy about Yvonne. Not expecting any of them to get much screen time.
