But I don't know. I was under the impression the soundtrack and visual effects at least were done.

I'm thinking possibly they just want to find out what the audience does or doesn't respond to before final edits.

Good question though, before you pony up money. How finished is the unfinished version? Although personally, I'd go anyway.

I dunno if I'd go to an unfinished cut, I think I'd prefer to see the polished final cut. Although October is a long time away...

Wouldn't this be kind of like seeing the Director's cut, before they cut it for the general audience?

A person could see both, and compare. That would be shiny. 🙂

Well with any luck theres not much cutting, and if there is a director's cut version will be released on a shiny DVD.

Ah well, still can't hop over to America, guess its October 7th for me.

The Serenity advanced screenings were last night, and they have a ton of fan review blurbs at Whedonesque.com

Some common threads - It was amazing. Verse virgins can get it. Stay away from spoilers. There are lots of surprises.

Here's a few selected blurbs:

Joss Whedon is a cruel man. You love him for doing something you absolutely hate. You hate him for making you laugh after tearing your heart out. You'll be in shock yet totally enthralled and exhilarated when witnessing what has to be the scariest, most edge-of-your-seat movie you're likely to see in ever. He's raising the bar on storytelling in movies, and that can't be bad. Or it could be traumatizing. Take your pick.

Someone asked if Firefly would come back to TV, and the answer is that if the movie does well, they want to continue with more movies. People asked if the story would be fleshed out in more details, and the comic book was mentioned, but they also hinted at something maybe being animated. Someone asked if we would see Joss on TV again, but right now he's focused on movies. At any time, he has about 10 great ideas for what he'll do next, but his next idea changes each day.
