Joss Quits Twitter

I think movies are in a state of transition and people need to realise that and adjust their attitudes.
I completely agree.. one way to adjust (or try to) their attitudes is bringing attention to the problem. Yet they are still ignored and mocked.

Yeah, Joss handled it badly and also Twitter is not the ideal forum- too full of hate on all sides. There are other ways though.

I heard about this. Shame to anyone that was threatening him over a movie. Are your serious? Did the movie have some problems sure, but you can't just blame it all on Joss and think that that justifies sending death threats. It's just a movie!

I remember when a lot of people actually threatened Jared Padalecki and his wife, Gen on Twitter...simply because they were unhappy with something on Supernatural. If I recall correctly, this was during S6. I was flabbergasted...and enraged. Crazy, crazy! To threaten such lovely people because you don't agree with a storyline? God.
I NEVER want to be famous.

sadly this happens often with the supernatural fandom

I didn't know about them. It's not their fault, they are not the writers and producers. While I do think the show has gone downhill since s6, I do not blame the actors though, they're just trying to make a living. Yea I guess that's why actors make a lot of money, though.

We live in this culture where people think they have a right to abuse famous people just because they have greater access to them, and are fans of their work (or not fans as the case maybe😉). But they really don't. If critics want to write a bad review of something, fine that is their right, they can even challenge an actor about their work in an interview, but to attack them online would be totally wrong.

You guys live in a fairyland. The most annoying internet people for you guys are just mild advertisements, tame trolls and social justice warriors. It's basically heaven.

I'll introduce you to government-sponsored commenting robot writers inside the Great Firewall of China.

These robots are semi-automatic and semi-intelligent. They search for key words from people's posts in social networks/forums and make tons of insulting replies when they need to. They feel like human because the it's the writers' paid job to keep looking after the bots and manually intervene.

You can't ban or blacklist them because they literally has thousands of accounts and they spent paid time to make each account look legit. You can't argue with them because they are programs built solely to troll you. You can't wave them away because you are flooded by them and it's hard to find real replies to your posts.

That honestly sounds really scary
You got to have kind of a thick skin on social media, especially if you're famous. Aaron Sorkin's quit social media several times. 😉 Don't get me wrong I'm huge Sorkin fan, but he definitely takes criticism too seriously.

I'm going to say that Joss just used this as an opportunity to "quit" Twitter. Let the dude rest and clear his head for a few months. I could totally understand him wanting to just get away from it all for a while, and not have to deal with this stuff.

I think he needs a hug from someone

You're telling me that Joss never received hate mails, letters, messages, etc. before? Any public figure can be the subject of criticism. I think he took it a little too seriously.

Anybody who tells someone to go kill himself should lose all credibility instantly. I get that some people were angry that Black Widow didn't have the role they expected, but this isn't the first time - nor will it be the last time - that a beloved character in a movie is handled a way some of the fanbase doesn't like. That's why it's called an interpretation. If they aren't happy with how Joss wrote their favorite character, they can simply choose not to watch the next movie.
Or write their own BW interpretation
