Joss to Direct The Office

Totally with you there, Buffy. I've seen maybe half of the first season now and it just hasn't grabbed me at all. It doesn't compare to the original UK version in any way.
 
See, i'll defend The American Office in as much as it amuses me BUT it's not anywhere as good as The Office.

I can't help but feel this, of Joss, is more of a publicity thing than a love for the show so i'll not make special arrangements to watch it.
 
Nope, me neither. I can't see that Joss as just the director will have enough influence to make it his own anyway. I doubt I'll see it.
 
The Office has gotten better and better with each season.

I stumbled upon it shortly after the season ended because USA was running reruns of it. (First season) I found it odd at first but by the end of the marathon I was enjoying it and I finally got used to the humor of it.

Season Two was quite excellent...some episodes made me cry because I was laughing so hard. It became the best comedy on TV.

Season Three has even surpassed season two and the last two episodes have been the most memorable of the show. This show deserves to win every single award a show can win.

I agree with most of the critics, comparisons to the UK version should now CEASE, seeing as how the show has developed its own identity and characters. Think of it a spin-off or something. But I really don't think it's that similar to the UK version, and that's definitely not a bad thing.

Still, best comedy on TV, and I'm glad Abrams and Whedon are directing episodes.

Buffy's first season was pretty shaky, just like The Office. It's the second season of The Office that really shines.

I believe that even Ricky Gervais said the US version shouldn't compare, and he was fine with the US version. I don't think he would have written an episode if he didn't like it.

In some ways the US version is better (in its second and third seasons) and in some ways it's not, but I think the people who adapted it were only interested in remaking the concept, which is perfectly fine with me.

Which is fine, but it's the stuff they removed during the remake that made the original version so cool, in my opinion. The US version is just too run of the mill sitcom for my liking.

Not saying the show is bad, just that it holds no interest for me personally, but then I'm not much of a sitcom person in the first place.
