Joss Whedon will receive the 2009 Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism. This award is a joint presentation from The Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard and the Harvard Secular Society.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 10th at 8pm, in The Memorial Church at Harvard Yard. Preceding the presentation of the award, Mr. Whedon will give a short speech about his life and work as a Humanist and his experiences in film & television.

The award ceremony will be followed by a Q&A session with Mr. Whedon, as well as autograph opportunities in the church.

Great for him I guess 😀 It was linked from the whedonopolis twitter profile.

Congrats to him! It's always nice to see talented people awarded for their work. And hey, the ceremony is on my birthday.

Outstanding Lifetime Achievement? Before 1997 nobody gave a damn about Joss Whedon, what a strange accolade.

I absolutely agree!

I love Buffy and Angel I do, but thats not a life times work.
Some scripts for Rosanne and some films and still doesn't come near to it.

God I hate these sycophantic people who just dole out awards willy nilly.

Jesus, at least wait until he's in his 60's/70's!

Agreed!

Its like these people who write autobiographies who are only about 25!

Also, don't lifetime achievement awards generally mean that people just aren't as good as they used to be? I think they are widely considered to mean that people think it's about time for the recipient to retire ..
