Joss Whedon's "In Your Eyes"

A metaphysical romance about two polar opposites who are in fact deeply connected in ways they could not have imagined...by Joss?! It will be interesting to see what twist he puts on this.

He already told this story...it's called B/A. :D
Oh that does look interesting. A romance, eh?

One of my favorite things about Joss's writing is how he portrays relationships and all the different ways that people can work as a pair, and all the ways that they can't.

Sometimes it's not really about the characters, but instead about what's going on between them. And he seems to really get that, and he's able to really portray it pretty believably.

Here's the article - please don't post just a link:

Joss Whedon has managed to stay pretty busy these days. After wrapping on The Avengers and secretly shooting Much Ado About Nothing with Nathan Fillion, the director has now revealed his followup film In Your Eyes, which will be produced by Whedon's new production company Bellwether Pictures.

According to Deadline, the film is a metaphysical romance about two polar opposites who are in fact deeply connected in ways they could not have imagined. Whedon wrote the screenplay and Brin Hill will be directing.

"When I wrote In Your Eyes, I didn't have the wherewithal (or the moxie) to make it without an established production house," Whedon said in a statement. "I believe, as I did then, that it's a pretty timeless romance, and now, with the creation of Bellwether Pictures (and Brin Hill's elegant, passionate take on the piece), I have the opportunity to prove it. (I also have a 37% increase in moxie.) I love this team and I can't wait to see them bring In Your Eyes to life."

Kai Cole will be producing the film with Night & Day Pictures' Michael Roiff. Whedon will be executive producing with David Rothenberg as co-producer. In Your Eyes is fully financed and scheduled to begin production in February.

And even better- you can get a walk on role!

Here’s How to Get a Walk on Role in Joss Whedon’s Next Film (Not The Avengers… sigh)
by Susana Polo | 3:38 pm, November 2nd

Basically, have money. Because a walk on role in In Your Eyes is currently being auctioned off on eBay. As of the writing of this post, bids have only just bumped over one thousand dollars.

In Your Eyes is the second film to be produced by Bellwether Productions, the company that Joss Whedon founded in order to release the Shakespeare adaptation that he filmed with a few friends while filming The Avengers. Whedon won’t be directing this time, that honor goes to Brin Hill, but he wrote the script. In Your Eyes is a supernatural romance “about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined.” The winning bidder will be invited on set to film their part, and are allowed to bring a friend, but must also provide their own transportation to the shoot.

But the best part is that 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, posthumously founded for the actress of the same name. ASF promotes female filmmakers of all kinds through scholarships, production grants, finishing funds and living stipends in partnership with academic and non-academic film institutions. Before her murder, Shelly had completed filming on Waitress with Nathan Fillion, so it’s not unlikely that the connection between Whedon and the Foundation was made in that way.

So if you’ve got the cash and the motivation, get to bidding! The worst that could happen is that you support women in film. Which isn’t, of course, a bad thing after all.

Wow he's certainly keeping busy these days. I guess he's trying to ride out on the fame from Avengers and its inevitable success. The film sounds interesting, though I don't expect it to have a happy ending if Joss is involved 😛

I wonder what muse sparked this new slew of work? He must have cloned himself, or he is more prolific a writer than he ever that he was.

Meh.

I'd rather he'd devote more of his energies to keeping Buffy Season 9 on track.

Kean agrees: He already told this story...it's called B/A.

I thought the same thing at first 🙂 but then I figured with all the mushy vamp/human love stories that are out now he would do something different with the story.

This is old work of his that he put on the back burner and is now finally finishing. 😉 Maybe is retelling B/A without the travesty of season 8 . 😛

My guess is that it will be rather Shakespearian in it's tones 🙂 It'll be interesting to see though, that's for sure!

Personally, I think Whedon has a fascination with "soulmates". Victor and Sierra were, after Buffy and Angel, probably one of his more blatant explorations of that bond.

I have to say I'll be very interested to see what he does with this story.
