Heard any weird Jossverse translations of Joss shows/movies/projects into other languages?

Dollhouse is called "Tender Killers" in Slovakia. Anuris(Whedonesque) says that alternative translations could be "Gentle Killer" or "Sweet Killers". More on this here.

Buffy is often translated to "Buffy och vampyrerna"="Buffy and the vampires" on swedish TV. I think I heard them correctly name it "Buffy the vampire slayer"("Buffy vampyrdråparen") once or twice.

That guy is right about Buffy's title in french. It is indeed 'Buffy contre les Vampires'. But sometimes 'Buffy tueuse de Vampires' was used, which translate to 'Buffy the Vampire Killer'. 😛

As for Angel... It's also named 'Angel' in french.

Dollhouse is 'Maison de poupée' which translate exactly to 'Dollhouse'.

Firefly is the same in french too.

I forgot, in Sweden it's also called "Buffy vampyrdödaren"(that's the translation on imdb.com) which I think is closer to "Buffy the vampire killer" than "slayer", when translated.

Angriff der mörderpuppen. Which would be Smile time in german. Which would be something like "Attack of the killer puppet/dolls." Someone with a better german skills can come and correct me.

Fun fact: I didn't even know Smile Time HAD a German title. As far as I know, the station that aired BtVS and Angel stopped airing Angel when Holtz kidnapped Connor. Then again, there are German boxed sets of seasons 4 and 5, so ...

There's probably lots of Swedish subtitles I could quote. Some are just annoying "For example when they write "don't" when the character says "do not", even though there's plenty of room to write the line as it's said) and some are just plain wrong. I can't come up with a example now though.

Ok, if you guys & gal wanna hear bad episode names, how about "Beer Bad" - "Das Bier der bösen Denkungsart". Now, reaaaaally. That's awful in German, already... I'd translate it as "The beer of the bad mode of thinking".

Why on earth couldn't they have just used "Bier, böse!" as that's what Cave!Buffy says in the dubbed dialogue. Stupid dubbers. Whatever they're paid, it's too much. 😛

Alright so here it is... It's long and I could only translate the full meaning of around 135 eps. The others I had to use my imagination a bit(there's an asterisk next to those translations), because it would have sounded completely stupid. 😛

The bolded titles are the translations from the french titles to the left. The underlined ones are the original(american) ones.

A few things I noted. There is only around ten episodes who have the same titles as the american ones. Also, apparently they were too lazy to come up with titles sometimes so they just made two eps use the same name with ''part 1'' and ''part 2'' next to it, lol.

I was thinking about doing this exact thread a long time ago...!! Ahahaha...with the episodes. In Italy BTVS is called "Buffy the vampire killer" ..it's stupid. And then Angel is just Angel..LOL But the episodes...the titles can be weird in italian 'cause they change them..I remember in Gilmore Girls they have weird long episode titles and in Italy they reduced them to one word and it kinda sucks. I'll post some Buffy translated episode titles later! 🙂
