Joyce's way of dying

Joyce's way of dying was a little different than what we got used to see on this show. She died natural death (before Tara, I think she was the first), not by a vampire or other supernatural thing that walks in Sunnydale's streets.

What do you think of that? Was it a good idea to have Joyce die from a disease instead of a supernatural death?

Yes I think it was a good idea. First because I think that Buffy needed to understand that she can't fight everything.
And everything can't be supernatural... It's like Xander who is very important but with no powers.
The show couldn't be ALL supernatural.

I think it was, as it shows that there are things that can't be fought against, or things that the Slayer can't fight against. Buffy was finding out about the slayer and focusing on that during season 5 and this completely changed that and made her focus of the human side of her life.

I think so, it highlighted to the viewers, and to Buffy herself that despite being the slayer, she is also human and some things just can't be fought. I liked the whole build up as well, with Buffy thinking that it was a demon that was making her mother ill, where in actual fact she was just ill.

Buffy was always so in control, and it was good to see that there were certain forces she could not control.
