Hi everyone!

Well, as big JP fan I'm, of course, very happy that I've a chance to watch my favorite movie on the big-screen for the second... or third.... or fourth time 😉 (If they release it worldwide)
But I'm also a bit sad that it's gonna be in 3D. I don't really like all the 3D stuff. I was in Star Wars Ep 1 in 3D and the effects were really... subtle.
I think that 3D doesn't make a good movie really better.

Anyway, in general, I'm pretty happy 🙂 So what are your thoughts? Are you gonna go watch it?

I like that they're rereleasing a lot of stuff again because I like getting to see films I love in the cinema since it's usually stuff I missed out on the first time around. Sure I've seen it before but I like the whole cinema experience. But rereleasing in 3D just seems like an excuse to get more money to me and that bothers me. It wasn't made for 3D, so why do they feel the need to put it in 3D now. I think if you're gonna make a 3D movie, make it FOR 3D, don't turn it into 3D when you're finished just to add a couple extra quid to your ticket prices.

Anyway, sorry, the 3D craze bugs me 😛

But I would definatley like to go see Jurassic Park! I love the film and I was too young to go see it when it first came out, so I would love to see it again in the cinema! I don't know why, I just feel seeing things in the cinema adds to the awesomeness for some reason. I love the atmosphere and the fact that you don't get distracted like when you watch things at home.
 
I'm not a fan of 3D, but I'm glad that they're starting to release old classics so the next generation (like myself) is able to experience it in theatres. 🙂

But does this mean that Hollywood has truly run out of new ideas that instead they're just spitting out old movies, slapping some 3D on it and expecting millions at the box office in return for their "effort"?
 
Well, at least it's not like they're releasing it without a reason. After all, 2013 is JP's 20th anniversary.
Can't believe how "old" this movie is. It's still hard to find better CGIs. But more than half of the dinosaurs are animatronics anyway, and therefore more or less real.

Many people say that they use the new generation thing as an excuse, but I think it really is a good thing.
The only thing that disturbs me is the 3D... If you ask me, I'd watch it rather without it.
 
I've only watched a movie in 3D once (Avatar). It was great, however it was made with the intention of being a 3D movie. Why is there an obsession with turning old movies into 3D? -.-
 
I'm not really a fan of all this 3D stuff, but I love Jurassic Park and actually think it would be good in 3D, what with all the dinosaurs and stuff. I'll probably see it.
 
I hate 3D in general, primarily because I wear glasses already, and having to stack the 3D ones on top of them is both uncomfortable and distracting. They do make clips for people who wear glasses, and I've used them once. They're more comfortable, but only work if you look straight into the screen, so places like IMAX, with curved screens, can't use them. Also, theaters don't seem to want to use them.

Anyway, back to the main subject. I can't recall seeing a single movie, whether converted to 3D after shooting or made that way in the first place. where the effect actually added anything to my enjoyment of the story, scenery, or special effects. It's a toy, just something to add to already outlandish production costs, and I can't see anything that justifies it.
 
It would have been good news if:

1. They wouldn't have released it in 3D only because it's so trendy, which I suspect is their excuse for filming another film, just because they trust the 3D trend will get them even more money, and it's too commercial now instead of art and fun like it used to be.

2. If the third movie wasn't trash that even the computer animation wasn't a bit believable.

3. If I could actually see 3D, but for some reason my eyes won't.

I agree wholeheartly. That's why I'm excited to see all the Star Wars movies in 3-D. It's not really 3-D, it just makes things pop a lot more.
 
It's not the case of Jurassic Park, just my thoughts on most of the 3D movies

I simply detest 3D. It gives me a headache. Shame, as I'd possibly go see Jurassic Park again in the theater. I loved it and it reminds me of my dad.

At the comic con, Spielberg has officially confirmed that they've a story and a writer. But there's no trace of Joe Johnston so far.
I think the quotes by Johnston from the link are a few years old and the story they had at that time has been discarded.

I hope Spielberg decides to direct the movie himself. I kind of hated what they did to JP3.
It felt like they made it just kind of sloppy and without passion.

Does anyone else think Spielberg is in it just for the money? And I'm not talking specifically about JP. Every movie he makes, even though good, very commercial, less for art. I'm not saying he shouldn't shoot for the money, but being one of, if not the best movie director in the world (so they say), don't you think he's making movies that are money jar fillers more than for the sake of art movies? He's great at taking a large budget and make hit movies out of it. But how does it make him into the greatest movie maker? He's a businessman more than an artist.

Well, he makes a lot of money indeed (I think his net worth is about 3 billion), but I really don't see him as the money-grubbing business man that many filmmakers are.
He really works for his money. And although he has made some of the most successful movies, he has also had some less successful ones.
I have heard him say in many interviews that he's still a child that loves movies and whose dream it is to make movies.
One could argue about this, but I think he makes it just for the fun and his love for movies.

One of the reasons for his movies' success is probably also that he's a very well respected filmmaker and people automatically expect an entertaining movie when he's involved.

I also don't think that Spielberg has much to do with the Jurassic Park 3D. I haven't read anything where Spielberg himself says anything about it.
It's probably just some idea of Universal to make money.

But like I said, I'm very happy to have a chance to watch it in the movie theater once again. I've watched it in a theater once and it was awesome.


Oh, and by the way, I'm not trying to defend Steven Spielberg or something. I'm just saying how I feel about him and what I've heard about him.

Oh, I forgot one more thing. In summer of '93, Jurassic Park was released and half a year later Schindler's List.
JP became the highest grossing movie at that time, but you know how much money Spielberg made with Schindler's List? 0$.

He honestly is a genius. I mean...I didn't really believe this until I saw a film he made as a kid, but some of his films (Saving Private Ryan!!!) are definitely works of art. Trust me, haha I am not a huge fan of directors like...Michael Bay :sick: but Spielberg is just...grand. I think he's one of best commercial directors out there and this is coming from someone who loves art house/indie films.
 
He should really focus on JP4 instead of this. 😛 Every damn movie imaginable seems to be getting a 3D version now... It's hilarious.
