Just a tiny little question here, about what Giles is saying

Like the title says, I'm looking for something Giles said in s5 episode "Out of Mind". When they're looking for Riley, and Buffy says he might be in the Initiative caves, but she doesn't know the way there, Giles said something like: But we know someone who knows those caves like the back of his...hand. Right?
Now, I really want to know what's up with Spike's hand. We've watched that bit a couple of times but we really couldn't get what he's saying. (It was without subtitles) It's not on Imdb. And it bugs the Hell out of me. 😛
 
Do you mean what does 'Like the back of his hand' mean OR that there might actually be a problem with Spikes hand?

I meant: He says "like the back of his something something hand" I wanted to know what the something something was. I do know the expression ^^
He says, "like the back of his melanin-deprived hand" referring to the fact that Spike is really really pale cause he's a vampire. Melanin is a pigment that gives skin its color.
 
lol i didnt understand what she wanted to know either XD but i think BB answered to her question 😉
 
Ah, okay. I more or less got the deprived part, but the melanin I really didn't, since he was all mumbly and turning away from the camera and all. Thanks a lot, now I can sleep ^^
