Just finished Buffy

Hi all.

Just finished watching Buffy, and thought this was the best place to discuss it.

Took me about two months, i watched Buffy 1-3, then Buffy and Angel 4/1, then Buffy 5-7.

I'll now watch Angel 2-5, Buffy got a bit addictive from season 5, decided to watch it all through 🙂

Was a good series. Surpassed my expectations. Earned itself a place in my top shows of all time at 9. Show definitely got better as it continued.

As a show, it really impressed some of the creative stuff they did, as well as the character development of all the characters. Completely different to when they first started out in year one. Moved from a teen show, to an adult show really well. Never lost the comedy throughout either.

If i had to rate the seasons i'd go: 2, 5, 7, 6, 4, 3, 1.

My favourite character is Spike. Most development of all the characters, and stole every scene he was in.

I'm quite familiar with forums, run my own small site - SENForums (Sport, Entertainment + News), so i should be right with these boards, unless there's anything specifically i should know?

Look forward to talking about the Buffyverse and finishing off Angel soon 🙂
 
Spike is quite the charmer.

I'm actually rewatching buffy and angel simultaneously right now, and I actually find myself watching more of the Angel eps in a row than the btvs ones but alot of that is due to laziness hehe.

But you're in for a treat with angel 2,3 and 5. Not so much 4 :/

I've heard that the later seasons are basically one long story arc. True? Also that Angel gets a lot darker than Buffy?

Season 1 of Angel was ok, but needed more of an arc. The intro theme is a lot better than Buffy's imo, sounds cool.

I did the same thing you did, 1-3 of Buffy, then 4 & season 1 of Angel, then Buffy got so addictive I had to watch all the rest before going back to Angel. Season 5 of Angel was my favorite in that show, and season 4 was like torture but worth it to get to 5. Welcome!

I don't think I've ever actually done that; watching through Buffy and Angel that way? I generally watch 1-7 of Buffy then 1-5 of Angel, which I guess is more confusing.
Anyway, welcome to the boards. 😀

As for Angel, I thought it just got better and better. 🙂 I found S4 a bit annoying when I first watched it, but now I absolutely LOVE it.

So, classic question: Bangel (Buffy&Angel) or Spuffy (Spike&Buffy)? 😀
 
Hello/ New and watching Buffy again

Hi. I've visited here before but not got around to posting. I have started watching Buffy 1- 7 again.( Did it last year too).
Always seem fresh every time I watch it.
Angel next up, just finished season 1. Will likely watch them close together.
There are some shows I never get tired of watching over and over on DVD. Buffy is one. The other two are Xena and Charmed. Sad that all are gone from TV- and happy people are still interested enough to keep posting on boards like this.

Well that's the way they aired, so i thought about doing it that way. Were only a couple of crossover/related bits in season 4/1 anyway. Don't know if there are a lot in the remaining seasons?

Both had their strengths, but i'd say Spuffy.

Bangel was more of a schoolgirl crush. Came suddenly out of nowhere. It's strength was its a forbidden love, and it gave us Angelus. Wrapped up nicely in the Angel episode 8, I Will Remember You. When Angel appeared in the later seasons of Buffy when she was with Riley + Spike, all he did was whinge.

Spuffy was more developed across the show. First they were enemies, grew to respect and admire each other, then rely upon each other. Had it's stages, enemies, protector, crush, passion, caring, love. Spike was smart enough to know she would never have as strong feelings for him, but that was fine, as long as there were some.

Hello and welcome!! 😀 It is awesome you give props to both because so do I. Like you I lean more towards Spuffy. Believe me, it is always up for debate on this site.

(Although...he might be a prime candidate for the Adopt a Bangel program...shall I snag him or do you want him? lol)
