Alright well, I have lots to say.

First of all. I really enjoyed it. I had seen Serenity first and was very impressed with the film. I knew the show had to be golden as well. I can't understand why neither did well.

The show should have done well. I never heard of it while it was on tv and I used to watch a ton too much of it, so for me not to know of it is a shock. But besides me, where were all the fans? I mean this is a great scifi show. It has everything you could want, and more. You don't need to be a scifi fan to enjoy this show. Characters were loveable, storylines were great. Joss added action, chemistry, comedy and great storylines all in one and it didn't work out? Say what?!! I am very sad for it and would definitely like to see this show brought back to tv. It was left open enough where it could come back. And I am sure the actors wouldn't mind coming back for it too. Let's hope for a serenity 2 at the very least.

What I didn't like...

I love Joss very much. I love, LOVE Angel and Buffy's theme song, I did not love Firefly's, or even like it. Sorry, just my opinion. But I guess the theme song doesn't matter, even tho to me it does.
I am also not sure what Joss was up to with River. I saw Serenity first so I know what she is capable of. Either, Joss didn't have a plan for River in the show to kick some seriously amazing butt, or he planned on the show doing much, much better and just thought he would wait on bringing the physical power that River had out. As I watched I kept saying...oh they're in a jam, bring out River she will kick their arses. It never happened. The three shots she made were amazing, but the only ones. To me, that was disappointing.

What the cast did was amazing. The characters were so loveable. It would have been fine for me I guess if I hadn't seen Serenity first and know what River can do. So maybe for people who saw Firefly first didn't mind, cause well, they didn't know any better. So ya, that bothered me. I wanted to see River in action!!!

Anyways, I love the show, almost as much as I love Angel...we know I love Buffy most. I really miss it now that it's over and I only finished it a little while ago.

I hope we get something more.
And holy crap the show blew my mind. So much more to say, but I am in a real mood to watch Serenity.
Off I go..

*poof*

Yea!! When It came on I didn't know it was on either and I watch alot!! of t.v. Well now alot of dvd's but when it came on alot of t.v. shows! I didn't even know it was on until years after it came out on dvd.
When I first saw it I loved it! Became hooked! Died waiting for the movie to come out! Went and saw it! Died again! Bought it on Dvd! Bought the collectors edition on Dvd.. lol I really liked it and the show!
I didn't know river could do the things she could and I think it would have been strange if they all knew she could right from the get go. I think he was trying to have all the mystery he could with her charatcer and let the other character's find out over time how dangerous she really was! Anything more from the Serenity would be great! The longer we don't hear anything the less likely it is to happen though and I'm impatient haha. I'd love to wait though if we ever find out there would be more to come down the line, but waiting and knowing there currently isn't is hard!

I wanted River to kick butt cause I knew she could. I thought Joss was probably waiting since he prob didn't know the show would be cancelled.
I just got through the last episode last night and I still don't get why the show was canceled. It was just so good. The people at Fox are morons.

I remember when the show started. I remember the advertising for it and thinking it sounded interesting. But I only caught a couple of episodes on TV, right before it was canceled. I forget what I was watching at the time but something always interfered with the time slot. But I do remember catching the one episode and thinking this is most unique idea I've ever seen--a sci-fi western, who thinks of this stuff? (I had never watched Buffy or Angel so I had no clue who Joss Whedon was, lol.)

I tuned in for the next episode and next thing I know the show was canceled. I finally got to see Serenity on cable last summer and fell in love with the movie. It was so awesome. I don't have it on DVD but watch it whenever it is on TV (I've seen it at least a dozen times now).

The thing with River's skills...I think Joss had planned to have a show that lasted many years. No need to give away his hand right away. During the run of the show River didn't even know what powers she had. She didn't know she could fight. I don't think that got triggered until the movie. In the show she was just a scared and very confused girl. I liked how the show went. The characters were all interesting and realistic. I like how they all lived together but didn't always get along. It must have been interesting on that ship.

Just another sad case of execs using arbitrary numbers to decide the fate of something amazing. If they would have just given the show a chance and not screwed with the running order and let Joss do his thing they would have had a huge hit.

I definitely think Joss planned on Firefly lasting for a long time. There were a lot of people whose lives we didn't get to explore, whose secrets were coming out in dribs and drabs, like River, Book, and Inara. Then it was cancelled and he had to pick ONE to focus the movie on because he didn't have time to examine everyone, so he chose River. I think it was a good choice. I would much rather have had several seasons in which we got to learn about everyone, but, as said above, the people at FOX are morons.

I think I remember you saying you were planning on watching it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it, I only watched it myself in the last couple of months.

As for the theme tune, personally I love it, I know its not as big and show-offy as some but I think that was more the point, a simple ballad.

i love the theme song... i sang it all the time back in high school... to many funny looks... and those were just off my math teacher, lol... fantastic series...

even my mother loves it... and she's hard to please with tv... i mean she dosent even like 'weeds'!

how can someone not like weeds? that's crazy!
Well it's great if we can get people into it. I just got my spouse started on it, so far so good!

I got Firefly on DVD for xmas.. Still haven't got around to watching it yet, I know I should watch it but its just not calling out for me yet.

I was the same way. I have been wanting the DVDs for years and my hubby finally got them for me for my birthday back in December. But then I just didn't feel like watching them. Once I got all my Buffy and Angel episodes watched I finally felt like watching Firefly but only got through 3 episodes. The just the other day, bam, I started watching and couldn't stop. Pretty sad that it only took me 2 days to watch the entire series.

yeah me too... ill be in the shop and really itching to watch a film so i buy it... then you get home hours later and you're too tired or its too late or whatever... i need a film/tv series to be shouting at me from my shelves saying "watch me... watch me now!"

Back when the movie came out, my group of friends was planning an outing to the movie. The only problem was that my hubby and I had never seen the show. A friend of mine brought the DVDs over and we were hooked! We went out and saw the movies as soon as we finished the last episode.

I think you would have enjoyed it better if you'd seen the show first. Like the others, I think the reason River didn't kick butt in the show was because Joss was building up to that revelation.

And I loved the theme song. I thought it worked really well for the show.

Yeah, I think the movie would have made more sense if I had seen more of the show. But I still loved the movie.

I like the theme song, too. I've been singing it in my head for the last few days now, lol. Very inspirational and simple. I like it. I think it fits with the show's style.

Hmm, Ive heard about the show but Ive never watched it. I did hear about the movie, especially since they shot a few scenes at my school lol... I had no idea Joss was the director.... it would have been cool to meet him, if it were possible. So this is a good show/movie? What exactly is it about? Ill have to watch.

😱 You should go rent out the series nd! I'm sure you'll enjoy it, try and watch the series before the movie though.
It's sci fi, but it's also a western... comedy.. drama.. horror.. you know it's a Joss show. It has everything 😀 I think I would have loved it more then BtVS if it lasted longer.. just such a high quality show for a first season.

really? ill definitely have to watch it then... !!
I probably would have loved it more the his other shows, too. It had so much potential. You can see it as you watch the show...all the stuff they never got to mention (the back stories of the characters), the longing glances between some of them. Ahh, that's where fanfiction comes in and I've found quite a few good ones (better then most fandoms).

Yes I agree, the show had sooooo much potential and Joss seemed to be setting it up really well instead of just rushing through the story arcs. I was very dissapointed that it was cancelled. It never aired on free to air tv in Oz but I had heard about it and brought the DVD as soon as it was avalable here. I have got my whole family hooked. You know that it is a good show when you always want more! Bit like other aspects of life hey.... haha get my mind out of the gutter now 😉
