According to Deadline Heroes showrunner Tim Kring is working on a continuation of the 2006 superhero series, which will be set years after the events of the original show and see a new generation of powered “evos” battle “familiar villains and new enemies.”

This'll land like a wet fart after of night of binge eating Taco Bell. But hey, that's just me being cynical and negative again.
 
I liked the first few seasons of the original. When it started, it was the first, or one of the first, superhero/X-Men type shows. When the first reboot happened, it failed partly because the genre was over-saturated at that point. And now I would say that the genre has largely died out on TV, so I'm not sure what their hope is at this point.
 
I always thought it was overrated for what it was which was very manipulative and 'mystery-box-y' in regards to its plotting but it had some interesting characters.


But this is just sad; when the fandom moves on but the creator can't and he keeps on trying to get back together with the fandom. "I've changed! I'm better now, baby I swear! I'm longer, more coherent, my themes are so much stronger, you'll love me, just give me another chance."

I did hear the executive meddling caused season two. That they intended to just keep having new characters, but this was nixed.

It was not executive meddling. It was the writers strike and them having to ditch all of their plans and arcs and figure it out on the fly.

It was actually both. The original plan for Heroes was to be more of an anthology series. Season 2 was supposed to be entirely different characters/villains. Think American Horror Story but years earlier. However, Sylar/Quinto was so popular that the producers insisted on continuing that story. The writers rushed to come up with a continuation of the season one plot, and then stalled out with the Writer's Strike. It never recovered.

I never knew this. I knew it was always an emulation of a comic book, hence the different “volumes”. However it feels like they were making it up on the go, instead of mapping out like 5-6 volumes from the get. And that’s what ultimately led to its cancelation. It just didn’t hit. Especially volume 2.

Though I love the addition of Kristen Bell, and her portraying a somewhat evil character. Especially on the heels of the Veronica Mars cancelation. Still pissed about that to this day, but that’s for another thread.
 
I feel sorry for up-and-coming writers out there, who probably have some great ideas for a new television series, and all we seem to be getting are reboots or remakes.
