The latest instalment of my Fan Fic about Nova's Long Journey Home was what I could remember of an episode of FRINGE and not my knowledge as such. The writers of that series are to be congratulated. I mean it is a long time ago I saw that show but I do feel a bit guilty about re-hashing their work.

I saw Fringe quite recently; I've been watching a lot of old to very old SF series recently.

There's one thing I've noticed @NotASlayer, a lot of what is done these days is a similar thing to the silent movies. a very old silent movie had a bi-plane crash into a barn, the pilot escaped. In The Space Between Us (a 2016 film) 'the stars' flew a plane into a barn (mucho bigga explosion) then they escaped unhurt. Essentially though the second situation was from that silent movie.

Well, it is often said that there is nothing new under the sun! Plots, storylines and tropes do get reused a lot, both deliberately and by accident.

Having a, author/scriptwriter clever enough to write a book/script about a new creature to exist in the realm of vampires, werewolves, etc: then having someone willing enough to finance said project, bearing in mind we are talking about $10s of thousands of dollars through to millions of dollars. The financial benefits are there but only if people fund those benefits.
What I do is without much cost (Fan Fiction) but getting a high readership is wishful thinking when writing a new story.

What I'd like to see in the new Buffy is a completely new variation of vampire/ werewolf.
Plus who is the new slayer going to be, Buffy or Nova? Personally I hope it is Nova, the person who Sarah Michelle Gellar said it would be.

@Joan the Vampire Slayer As a kid, I read The Belgariad (and other associated and assorted stories and books by the same author, David Eddings). The Belgariad is one of the most formulaic, trope-stuffed fantasy stories around, and deliberately so, but it did well because of how it told the story, focusing on the characters rather than the setting.
